Great startup in an exiting time
|
|
Few meetings and simplified processes so work gets done
Room to try out new things and learn in the process
Work from home day once a week
Small team with everyone being knowledgeable
Great atmosphere in the office
Great outlook for the future of the company. Leadership team is very open and friendly
|
Since it's a small team there is not an expert for everything. Sometimes you just have to figure it out yourself

The most wonderful team of people!
|
|
I am so proud to have worked for this organization. The people working there are bright, intelligent and kind individuals and I learned so much from each of them. The culture at F/S is one of accountability, transparency and collaboration, so if that interests you, I recommend applying.
F/S is heading towards some really exciting times and I think they couldn’t have a better leadership team driving its success. During my 2+ years there, I was encouraged by everyone (especially my unbelievable manager) to continue to grow and develop my skill set. I will always be incredibly grateful for my time at Fatigue Science.
|
If you want a chance to grow and learn, while working with unbelievable humans, F/S is the place to be. I don’t have any cons from my time there.

There has been a lot of changes over the last few months and I am really excited to see where the organization is heading. However, don’t lose sight of the people. Make sure that you continue to hear everyone’s opinions and encourage autonomy and collaboration across the team.

A company that cares
|
|
This company deeply and genuinely cares about it's people. Many of the employees have been here for 3+ years which is a long time in a "startup." If you ask for something and take initiative, you are likely to receive support or a good reason why it's not possible.
|
There has been some issues with hardware but mostly strategy and execution that have made growth slower and more frustrating than I was expecting. Having said that, I think the company is making some exciting changes and is headed in a good direction.

Resourceful and scrappy
|
|
The team is solid. Smart, hardworking people organized around the belief that what Fatigue Science is doing can have a meaningful impact on the world. It was never hard getting out of bed to work on problems related to health, safety and performance.
And, direct access to customers was a plus. We had a lot of fans who were generous with their time and feedback.
Tons of autonomy and opportunity.
|
Focus can be a challenge. The potential for the product is so broad that it was difficult at times to not have too many balls in the air and focus on a well defined market we believe we could dominate.

An adaptive company with the most open and supportive environment you'll ever experience
|
|
*An open, supportive environment*
The growth and advancement I experienced in the 3 years I worked here was amazing. My manager and my colleagues supported the skills I wanted to acquire or build, and the direction I wanted to take my role in. The open communication here made it possible for me to voice my opinions and needs. People here are so receptive!
Even when I first started out as a lowly intern, my ideas and opinions were taken seriously. The CEO and leadership team always made themselves available to hear me out and receive feedback from me. What CEO or director is open to hearing critical feedback from an entry level employee? All throughout my employment, this culture and openness persisted and only grew stronger as Fatigue Science found its cultural identity.
*An adaptive leadership team*
If you think CEOs and leadership teams have all the answers, you don't understand how business works. The mark of great leadership is adaption and receptiveness, and Fatigue Science has it. I saw this company adjust, adapt, and refine goals as we learned more about our ideal customers, internal systems and models for growth, building hardware, and our competition.
This company is ever-evolving, from its culture to its business goals and vision. That's the type of business you want to be a part of.
*Just a blast to work at!*
The amount of fun I've had working here and the connections I've made are mind blowing. Despite leaving to build my own business, I feel so fortunate to be a part of the Fatigue Science family. I have no idea how Fatigue Science managed to gather so many wonderful people all in one company, but they did it.
Fatigue Science really puts an effort into keeping employees happy. From team events, Friday socials, and even the social connections and fun had outside of company time, the team here is dedicated to building a connection with you. All you need to do it be receptive. Trust me, going home at 5PM is never a good idea!
|
I'm probably the biggest fan of Fatigue Science, but I will say I felt that I was underpaid for my skillset and effort. This wasn't due to a lack of opportunity. I definitely grew and advanced during my time here. But, rather, the realities of being a start up in the burgeoning industry of fatigue monitoring.
If you're looking for big bucks, Fatigue Science might not be the place for you right now. However, if you're looking for an environment that will absolutely help you grow your knowledge and skillset, all while building connections with people you'll undoubtedly value for life, apply right now.

The direction you're going in is fantastic. Just keep the transparency going, continue refining team meetings so they're more efficient, and keep that overarching goal/vision top of mind. Focusing on the one overarching goal is going to focus the team's efforts and accelerate growth.
One more thing: It would be valuable to start doing organizational personality tests so new hires can have a better connection with their managers. Understanding one another will help reduce misunderstandings and improve communication much more quickly with the use of assessment tools.
I was lucky to have a manager that is just as candid, open, and thick-skinned as I am, so communication and feedback was never a problem. In fact, we had a frequent, candid feedback loop that helped me grow quickly.
Assessments could help the openness and transparency in the culture extend down to new hires and their managers. It seems like many of the other reviews here are due to misunderstandings of leadership and communication styles.
