They didn’t pay me what I was promised. I was ultimately placed in a position other than the one I applied for. They cut my pay more when I questioned the first two issues. The education that is provided is first rate. Unfortunately, the benefits and pay do not match up with those of State schools. The actual job is not bad, it is the people who make it bad. The actual job itself and dealing with students is great and rewarding. It is supposed to be a Christian university, however the people who work there do nothing but gossip. If you do not fit in there little clique and gossip and talk about everyone and suck up to certain people, you will be miserable. The staff in general are very hard to work with if you are not in the clique with the right people. They preach act of service, but the directors and VP's don't even go to chapel or act of service day as they preach for staff to do. It is all talk and no action. No representing Christ at all. I highly recommend if you are wanting to go to Faulkner because you think it is a Christian environment, it is not. Helped develop my professional skill set. The compensation does not match the job requirements at all. Their salaries are well below the standard in higher education, and lower than most entry level positions. No opportunity for advancement. I feel grateful that I was recruited to work in a place like Faulkner. The students are so much better than at the State University where I previously taught. Both the students and staff are great! Your fellow professionals become like a second family. Faulkner offers the best of both worlds - doing what you love and getting paid to do it. Some of the cons about working at Faulkner include the size of the university. Compensation is very low in comparison. Very "political" environment. Not much room for advancement. Many times, employees & promotions are "hand picked" before the formal job opening is posted. Interviews are conducted as a formality.
