At Figmints, I'm able to work with a diverse team of people with so many different skillsets. While the no-walls office layout can be a bit noisy, it provides tons of opportunity to learn from developers, designers, salespeople, creatives and marketers. The added benefits of a beer fridge & espresso definitely help, too.

Growing pains of the company are apparent, but not too bad. Conference rooms and the overall workspace can get a little cramped when everyone is in the office .

I worked at Figmints as a developer intern whilst still in school. They helped me to hone my development skills in a fast paced, open environment where everyone is approachable and dedicated. Figmints has a great staff that is constantly striving to provide unparalleled services to their clients and employees. Every department is willing to help at a moments notice, and provide intuitive constructive criticism's to constantly help you improve.
They offer great perks as well. Catered lunches, team-building events, and offer to send employees to conferences all over the country to constantly help them improve.

- Great entry level position for new professionals in the marketing/branding industry.
- The team is very close-knit and friendly with good rapport and a healthy work environment.
- Exposure to a multitude of roles and activities. Wearing many hats and being a self-starter is highly encouraged.
- Diverse project portfolio. Wide range of clients to keep things interesting.
- Open workspace makes for fun and entertaining discussions - everyone loves celebrating everybody else's successes.

- Very little senior-level oversite.
- The vision for the company's future is short-sited and borderline non-existent. It's not unusual for the company to change directions completely every couple of weeks. The company's vision rests entirely with the CEO which makes it difficult to buy-in or know his thoughts/plans.
- No real forum for feedback. Feedback is often collected but nothing changes as a result.
- Disagreeing with senior management will likely result in a complete shut-down of communication. As a result, legitimate issues/concerns are overlooked or ignored.
- Disconnect between sales and talent leading to clients expecting what was sold to them but often receiving something completely different due to budget/skill constraints. Makes for awkward and contentious situations with clients.

Amazing people, Poor Administration

Figmints has had an amazing collection of creatives walk through it's door. The people who work at Figmints are ambitious creative and kind. The studio is set up perfectly for collaborative work and it also allows for remote activity. Work space is open and comfortable. Open studio allows for bonding. It is up to date with new technology and trends allowing for a great working environment. Many different kinds of personalities work together for a common goal. Friendships lasted well past my last day of Figmints.

The company is not created for long term stay. The organization lacked senior experience and mentorship. They have a small number of senior members that limits the amount of resources they can provide. There was a double standard between genders and a need for cultural awareness. The lack of a human resource personnel created difficult situations for when issues arose. Often was told one thing and was delivered another. Unclear job descriptions created stressful work experience. Often disorganized when it comes to deadline and client work. Executives can sometimes be too informal borderline disrespectful. Great co-workers that choose to leave the company seemed to always get a less than kind send off.

Good Intentions, Bad Implementation

The culture is very laid back. If you need to take personal time to take care of your business, you're able to do so without any hassle. As well, the team is highly collaborative and encourages cross-dept meetings. The overall culture is healthy from a peer to peer level but not from a top down level. The team is one of the most passionate and engaging I've worked with and there's never a shortage of innovative ideas.

The company suffers from being all talk, little strategy, and no action. At a culture level, diversity and team member respect is grossly lacking despite multiple incidences. I can't say this is a healthy environment for Women, minorities and LGBT team member states because boundaries are consistently crossed without anyone being put in check. From a work level, most ideas are axed for the sake of time/capacity and the clients feel the weight of the mediocre work put out. Additionally, most hires are never given a chance to do the job they were told they'd be doing. You can be hired to do one thing and always be shoved (or tricked) into something far different. You can't expect the managers to give you a career here. It's best to only work here for an entry level, one year situation so that your career doesn't suffer. I genuinely don't think that you can do your best work here simply because of how poorly projects, internal resources and team members are managed.
