Wrench had a good idea and even a decent vision of ‘what could be’, however, they only did well when the economy was booming, but once the economy turned and it required true skill to run a company, the management team quickly showed their short comings. As others have mentioned, favoritism and nepotism is a thing and combined with what appeared to be a management team that placed little value on their most valuable employees who actually understood the automotive industry in favor of big ego and low productivity yes men, then they had no choice but to off shore their labor to find the cheapest possible labor force to keep things a float. Had the company investors recognized just how poorly management was at running a company during tight economic conditions, they might have saved it but it is likely beyond saving with the staff they have remaining. I ethically cannot recommend working at a place that placed so little value on its people but was more enamored with its dreams. It wasn't always this way and I am however grateful for both the opportunity I was provided as well as a life lesson that was seared into my soul, and that it is paramount to value your people. Impressively incompetent c-suite team with almost zero automotive industry experience, guiding a mixed group of employees that range from minimally qualified to outright wholly unqualified to the extent that entire online groups are dedicated to humorous tales of profoundly ignorant decisions across the full stack of automotive services. They do have an impressively expensive office meant to swoon potential investors and house some of the biggest egos on the west coast. The recent firings of the last few qualified people en-mass in favor of hiring offshore from the Philippines in order to lower operating cost while hiring an in-house legal is a clear sign of the companies decent into cost savings in order to keep the doors open long enough to find a sucker to buy what remains of an overvalued, mismanaged, and bloated husk of a once good idea. The remaining employees are the most loyal, yet least qualified people, (save a small handful of people who are looking for a new job) as the company has always had a bent towards nepotism and favoritism but still requires just enough American based workers to attempt to either train their replacements or train the off shore employees, many of whom never rode in a car, let alone owned one or worked on one. Do not take my word, just view yelp or any of the numerous online ratings sites or the BBB. They acquired company and in contract stated benefits were going to remain yet after few months they changed both medical and vacation/sick time policy to medical being way more expensive from paying previously 20$ a month for awesome coverage to 160$ and having hard time finding doctors that would take the insurance. Company went from unlimited pto to 2 weeks a year for employees that had to be accrued. They completely screwed up on merging teams with people getting paid waaaay different wages for same job position. Some making 30 an hour while others 15 for the same position and we would be asked not to discuss or pay benefits with merged team. Company has had the same CEO for over 8 years despite it continuously failing to make company grow and they have had 8 restructures in less than 2 years. Their new brilliant plan is to replace US based employees that have actually been in the automotive industry for call center workers overseas with resumes and experience that look like they are about to be on a dating website. They have had several lay offs with people that actually knew how to run the business and they decide to keep those that have won popularity contest. The work is straight forward and pretty easy if you have a good knowledge of vehicles. They do not give raises like their handbook says. This company has too many directors, yet they have zero sense of direction. I worked on taking calls from mechanics and I was either verbally abused or called incompetent on many occasions. The CEO does absolutely nothing. He claims he has an open door, but in any attempts to email him, he does not bother to even reply. He is just a face for the company and provides no meaningful impact to your job. Management have absolutely NO idea how to run a company. They purchased a competitor that had a working formula for that working formula and then decided they wanted to change everything about it. Why fix what was not broken? Don't expect to be talking to your manager. Don't expect to be contacted by any form of leadership. Don't expect to be properly trained in what you're doing until you actually get in trouble for doing it incorrectly. I feel like all of the executive management have no idea what they are doing. From performing useless meetings that could have been an email, to shadowing and wasting employee's time for absolutely no purpose. Layoffs are an issue too. This company has gone through 3 major layoffs. It's not a good idea to expect stability in a start-up business, sure, but to have three major layoffs since just 2015? What happened to "You can't fire your way to profitability", Mr. CEO? Empty promises. Lies. Poor management. Useless meetings. Waste of time.
