En Filmax creemos que la industria del cine es de valientes. Desde los primeros cineastas que cruzaban los continentes para llegar a Hollywood hasta hoy, cuando hacer cine es más difícil que nunca. Valientes todos los que forman parte de una película y se exponen continuamente a los ojos de los demás.
Y en Filmax lo sabemos porque llevamos más de 60 años en el mundo cinematográfico. Apostamos por el cine en España cuando pocos lo hacían y hoy Filmax es una de las principales empresas audiovisuales españolas. Con sede en Barcelona, la compañía se organiza en cuatro grandes áreas – producción, ventas internacionales, distribución y exhibición –, lo que la convierte en el único estudio independiente de cine y televisión en el país.
Desde su fundación en 1953, la compañía ha producido casi 100 largometrajes. Películas premiadas, aclamadas y proyectadas internacionalmente como 'El maquinista', 'El perfume', la saga de terror '[REC]', 'Transsiberian', 'The Way' y 'Mientras Duermes'. Más recientemente, ha llevado a la gran pantalla sus producciones '100 metros' y 'Musa'.
En el campo televisivo, Filmax ha producido las series 'Polseres vermelles',primera serie española Ganadora del Emmy Kids, 'Cites', 'Sé quién eres' y la más reciente,'Benvinguts a la familia', todas ellas de Pau Freixas.
La empresa destaca también por ser una de las compañías que más ha invertido en producción de animación, ganadora de 5 premios Goya a la Mejor Película de Animación. 'Copito de Nieve','Nocturna', 'El Cid: la leyenda' y 'Pérez, el ratoncito de tus sueños' son algunas de las películas producidas por Filmax.
Más allá de su experiencia como productora, Filmax cuenta con una amplia trayectoria como distribuidora de películas nacionales e internacionales. Algunos títulos que la compañía ha distribuido con gran éxito de público y crítica son las ganadoras de 8 Oscar, 'Slumdog Millionaire', y 4 Oscar, 'Million Dollar Baby', 'La mejor oferta', 'Truman' y 'Loving Pablo'.
