The senior management is extremely advanced in age and unwilling to allow for any changes. Staff are regularly screamed at by directors. They like to fire over email and not face to face. Money is the absolute lowest possible. Staff safety is not a priority, it was broken into while I was there and nothing changed, the offices have no window and are poorly ventilated

Forget trying to move to admin from floor. Attitude is straight out of Upstairs Downstairs. Floor staff don't even get invited to holiday party. They get sent the leftovers. Women are poorly represented.

The atmosphere is generally relaxed - no uniforms, employees are able to be real humans, themselves. Staff is friendly, personable. The best of the "independent" theaters to work at, probably - in the sense of being a worker there.
Perks: free popcorn, drinks, etc for employees and reciprocity with many other NY theaters (free movies!)
|
Being a non-profit the salaries are understandably not the best for theater staff - basically it is a minimum wage job and part-time - hard to have as a main source of income.
