I worked for Filson as a Store Manager for over 3.5 years. It is a great and iconic brand. It def had the best work/life balance I have ever had as a SM. I was compensated very well, really enjoyed my team I worked with, and at the end of the day, every job is what you make of it. If you stress easily, you will be stressed.... Great brand and great overall company... they just have a few kinks to workout, but the brand has been around over 122yrs for a reason.
Also the discount is very generous too along with the clothing allowance.

So many problems

It was a good store to work at and although small there was always something to do. At the time there were too many employees and now there aren't enough and close to no managerial structure. I enjoyed learning a lot about the companies background and products during my time there but it was not an enjoyable place to work.

Company full of good people with poor leadership

Filson is a extremely quality brand which is why it is so difficult to see such a lack in quality leadership from the "executive" team. As opposed to creating something sustainable it seems they are purely in it to make money regardless of the cost to its employees. Poor pay and working conditions and a jumbled structure has led to a very poor culture.

A heritage brand that tries very hard to remain as close to it's roots as possible. There are plenty of opportunities for growth within the US locations, just not much in Canada until more locations are built. The employee team in general is a great group of people that keep it a fun environment to work in.
