Amazing place for growth and to be mentored.
My work with FindSpark has always been a great experience. Their programs are extremely well run and it’s awesome to be a part of creating experience for community members to connect in fun ways with cool employers that really care about meeting diverse candidates. It’s a small team so you get to take on a lot so it’s a good place if you want to be challenged and get a ton of hands-on experience - you definitely have to be able to work quickly. From a career growth perspective, Emily, the CEO always goes out of her way to make introductions to future mentors and employers, and really helps and is encouraging in facilitating that process.
Not a ton of major benefits like you get with a large company, if that’s something you care about.

A fake community with an even faker CEO
The people you meet within the community are great and it's a good way to make connections
Pretty much everything else. The CEO bases her life on performative wokeness but cannot run a company to save her life. Micro-managing is a daily aspect of your job and the CEO acts like every small, miniscule task is important and sets impossible deadlines. Despite being "a community for young professionals," the CEO tells employees behind the scenes to disregard community members in favor of basically begging big companies to sponsor the company. Also, the CEO expects you to work a full time job while only paying you 7/hr and the events don't allow for a second job. Truly a disaster. Stay away.

Struggling startup that focuses more on "asking" big companies over actual community building
Working at a startup that places a deep focus on helping others allows you to build on various skills and competencies, along with instilling an entrepreneurial spirit. You also have the opportunity to meet professionals from various companies and industries, which if you do the right things, can help you when you are looking for new career opportunities.
Absolutely everything else. The CEO, who has no formal training in managing others, is very ungrateful for the work her small team puts in, takes no blame for things that go wrong, and is very unrealistic with expectations. Miscommunication wass prominent, and micro-managing was present. Though its known for their community, behind-the-scenes, the CEO wants everyone to focus more on selling to brands and companies and not pay attention to community members. CEO also views taking time to research competitors as not valuable, even though she's honestly stuck in the past. Prospective employers should not consider working with FindSpark given how small the team is, and based on above statements.

Rebrand all of your language, etc. as a boutique agency that works with employers on their initiatives (long-term instead of short-term) and cut the whole "community" nonsense. Tailor your expectations as it fits with where the startup stands financially and to the small team. Also, take responsibilities for your actions when things go wrong.
Also, if the last time their website and logo/graphic designs were updated was since their founding (which is aka NEVER), there's something wrong with how money and funding from investors is being used.

Tough learning experience
Because the company is extremely small, you will have very high-level responsibilities. If you can handle the stress of so much riding on you, you will learn the ins and outs of running a business, become somewhat of an expert in your field at an accelerated rate, and gain an entrepreneurial attitude that's useful anywhere you go. The other pro of this job is that you will meet tons of amazing people through networking events, especially in creative, business and tech companies. If you play your cards right, and actually follow the career development tips the company offers, you will leave with tons of new connections and friends! A few other things:
-a few, cool perks like birthdays off, weekly team lunches, flexible wfh days, and subsidized learning / career development opportunities
-Very high stress work environment with tons of urgent work at all times, and little time to dwell on accomplishments
-Management does not usually make it easy to prioritize the large workload
-Extremely low pay and benefits. In my case, being a full-time employee was more like being a full-time intern for financial purposes. If you are an entry-level person and need to be fully financially solvent/independent, this is probably not the job for you.
-Do not expect to have free weekends / vacation time. Expect to be on call at all times to problem-solve and do urgent work.
You will need thick skin and a very high pace of productivity to keep up and even begin to meet your KPI's.

So much promise with no pay-off (literally)
Cool team with nice people who feel as overworked and underpaid as you do
Absolutely everything. For a company that tries to teach graduates how to get a good job, it pays its employees next to nothing. Yet, you have to work at least 36 hours a week, plus events despite basically getting paid pennies. The CEO's excuse of compensation is a weekly lunch that she pays for. Though the company is known for their "community," in the back end, the CEO often tells you not to care about talking to community members and to care more about sucking up to big brands. Just overall a giant scam and the CEO has no credentials to back up her supposed experience. CEO also often takes work from others and plays them off as her own.

It's a small team, so you have way more hands-on experience than you would at a larger company.
The team is open to trying new ideas.
The team is overall very positive, inclusive and helpful.

Not necessarily a con, but since the team is small, working fast is expected.

All talk.
Team members were nice. Typical "start-up" small team experience.
Most things were done last minute, and when things went wrong, a lot of blame was placed unfairly. Work load and expectations were insane. Every day was a constant spamming of assignments and projects with unrealistic deadlines. Many times it felt like we were lying to customers, and CEO encouraged such "marketing" strategies. CEO honestly is all talk and barely has any credentials to back up her experience and claims. CEO treats team members as students and tries to educate employees during team meetings but team meetings are always repetitions of the same non-constructive advice.
