CTO is a great engineer with zero management experience, other than a brief stint in the Air Force. So the only thing he knows is complete obedience and anything he perceives as loyalty. Many good people have left or were shown the door simply because they complained about his poor organizational skills.

Finsix is a small engineering led company with potential but a limited current product line.. They've made a few missteps that led to a late 2016 layoff and need to determine whether their main product (Dart) has a market at a price-point they can meet.
Pros:
Strong engineering team with unique skill sets
Open and cross-functional environment and problem solving
Dog friendly (a plus to most but not all current employees)
Open office plan integrating desks, lab and supporting functions makes project communication easy.

The power electronics technology behind the Dart product is state of the art but comes at a relatively high retail cost and took longer than expected to launch. A second product line is needed quickly
Cons:
Dart's market attach rate and market penetration potential are unproven
Recent layoffs have people looking over their shoulders - there's a sense another shoe will drop
C Level staff is relatively green -- This is most obvious when things don't go well

This is not a con on Onchip as per say, rather its a con of working in any startup. Professional licenses are very expensive (run in millions of $$), and there could be a crunch on available licenses. But in the 2+ years I worked, with correct time management between employees, there never was a time when we were short on licenses.
