The announcement (or should I say email) came as a complete surprise to my team and I in the middle of the week. This was their first (of many) mistakes in handling the merger. To our surprise that very same day (half) of various team members from Kyriba showed up to both offices. Most of us right then and there realized how screwed we were since we were now meeting the people who were going to take our jobs. After many forced and unprepared "tell me about your job" interviews most of us were left with a bitter taste in our mouth and relentless anxiety. By the 3rd week in it was pretty obvious who would still have a cushy job with Kyriba. Basically, if you are a 50 year old white male or an attractive, brown nosing female you were safe. Our so called "leader" did a GREAT job at making everyone else feel incredibly insecure about our future by the end of March. To add insult to injury we were then bombarded by a flood of frantic emails from HR stating that we HAD to use up all of our PTO by the end of the month. However, the catch was that we were still expected to respond to emails. Of course, none of us realized this was the case until we were actually on PTO. They also continued to hire new employees in the AZ office even though NOT everyone was going to keep their job. Talk about a slap in the face. In the end my team and I lost ALL motivation to continue doing our jobs and instead job hunted/interviewed on company time. I can honestly say this was the first (and only) time my team rallied to cover for one another. Communication: Terrible. The JERK CEO literally had NO answers to give during our forced and very awkward acquisition meetings. At one meeting we were finally told to make ourselves "visible" to our counterparts at Kyriba. Um, with what contact information? Most of us assumed we would have to stalk them via social media since they never provided us a chance to make actual human contact. The "select few" were invited to Kyriba sponsored events while the rest of us were left straggling behind. That said, it is unfortunately too complex to actually meet market needs. The worst company culture I have ever experienced. European office is one snake pit where the mood is ruined daily by bad leadership (tyranny) and an inflexible, negative company culture. Gossip and back stabbing are aparently the way to get ahead, resulting in slimy and sneaky behavior by staff and management. Management further seems to be all about squeezing as much short term profit as possible - no eye for personal interaction or development. HR and US management are weak to the core, not supporting employees oversees at all. The people in the organization care about making a difference in the market. CEO and management are focused on providing the best possible product on the market, and are clearly the market leader. First of all, the work environment is far better than other companies I have worked for. You get the sense that upper management cares about your ideas and thoughts, and that they welcome feedback. The C-suite members are incredibly personal, and give you the time of day. Everyone here seems to be very dedicated to building a great company and product, and to providing immense value to their clients. The people are all very friendly and willing to help you learn and grow. I feel like I have gained quite a few skills while working here, and I've been here for a little over a year. There's definitely a feeling of family and camaraderie here. Since this is still a smaller company, some of the processes you may expect from a larger company are still being hashed out, albeit quickly and with high priority. For example, one of the things the company has been focusing more on is giving better reviews of work performance, and also training for employees. Also, there has been some turnover in the past, but management has taken strides to mitigate those issues. It can be a little intimidating at first to jump into such a complex niche market, especially with little prior experience. The information and knowledge is definitely attainable, but it will require (as with most other things) a can-do, go-getter attitude when it comes to self-education. If you're the type of person who likes a challenging work environment with increasing responsibilities, and are a self-manager when it comes to learning and career growth, then you may perform well here. I just started at this company on Monday and I cannot stress how great the experience has been. The interview process was very in depth but after starting, it is clear why. I am surrounded extremely professional and intelligent individuals. GREAT benefits and location in Scottsdale! Fully stocked kitchen and lots of company outings. Amazing company culture and chances to get to know others in the office in depth.
