Pretty cool coworkers who had a lot of experience. It's a bigger company than you'd expect with a good deal of red tape. If you show effort by working hard it's pretty easy to stand out if that's what you're looking for. On the flip-side it's very easy to get away with coasting at FMG.

For me, this was a mediocre place to work. For the majority of my time here, I worked in the customer service department... which, while managers try their best to make it fun, is one of the most frustrating departments to work in. And not just because you’re dealing with customers. I also worked in the internet marketing department, which was such a big change that it felt like I switched companies. Customer service is treated like children — particular when you answer phones. You get a little bit more trust when you go to the outer customer service departments (e-services, returns, etc.) but it is still not as great as when you work in another department. For good work, you’re given rubber ducks and balloons and money to use toward the company. You had mandatory weekly LONG meetings that would be eliminated if the people answering phones had an email address. And for those who worked in things like e-services, they’d have to sit through these meetings despite knowing the updates already because of email. Which was extremely frustrating because there was also mandatory overtime when e-services was behind on email. The building is virtually windowless. You are rewarded periodically, as a company, with a day to wear jeans. Other departments would have paid for lunches but customer service would have to do a pot luck if they wanted to do something. Just not pleasant. And the pay just isn’t great. Some people are paid well... but if you’re anywhere near the middle or the bottom... you’re just not gonna make decent money.

Fast paced work environment, good people, little room for advancement.

I worked for Fire Mountain Gems for over 9 years and they are a company that cares for their employee's and has an overall fun atmosphere. My managers valued my input, were flexible with my schedule and personal issues, and I was treated more than fairly.
Overall a great place to work that is fun, fast paced, and challenging.
Unfortunately, due to the job market in the area the pay is fairly low and opportunities for advancement are few and far between, but I would encourage anyone in the area to apply if they need a job. My time spent there was very valuable and I learned a lot.

Need better Supervisors who work for their pay and not just a paycheck.

I took classes on jewelry making to help and assist my customers with their needs and questions. I had a very good connection with my clients. I enjoyed associating with different employees within the company. I enjoyed (and will miss) our Christmas party.

Very stressful work environment.

Job culture was fear-based and not conducive to a pleasant, cooperative work environment. Great deal of turnover in management staff lead to uncertainty in departments and throughout entire company.
Utilized my existing skills and I was paid well as I gained knowledge of business processes. Immediate executive staff trusted my skills and knowledge and provided the bit of positive feedback to make the job a worthwhile endeavor for the time I was there. When they left the company, so did I.

pick and packing orders and loading the sorters. i have learned how to do stock adjustments and stock movements, And cycle counted inventory on a daily basis. Management has their favorites and pick who they want for a job. You had to keep up your productivity to a certain level. The most enjoyable part of the job was to hang out with my coworkers at break and lunch.
