private:firetoss https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=679750 Jun 17th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Firetoss CX Manager Salt Lake City, UT Great people, great clients, great opportunity - Highly recommend Firetoss helped me begin my career by letting me learn about the various facets of marketing and explore different disciplines so I could know where my talents would best grow. I wanted to write a little longer review because now that I am gone and look back, I think it is important that you hear the real story of how the company grows its employees. Many of the negative reviews that are written here are by interns that are probably bitter about not getting the “offer” at the end of their time here. It shouldn’t matter to them. They leave there with a lot more than they start with. The internship sets them up for a career somewhere else. One of the strongest parts of the growth plan at Firetoss is that your peers hire you and help you. If you didn’t move up the ladder it is probably because people more senior than you aren’t impressed by your showing up late, lack of work ethic and lack of passion. I was in several of those meetings where we discussed intern progress and there really isn’t more than 1 in 5 that meet the rigorous standards for full time employment. I started as an intern and was offered a full time job after graduation. I was offered a salaried position that was competitive and as I learned and acquired more skills I was given more pay and more opportunities. During my time as an intern I was mentored by several people that I can’t thank enough. I was offered a great position with health benefits and unlimited time off which allowed me to travel and still have a rewarding career. The atmosphere is similar to most agencies, from what I can tell, where you work hard and are under a lot of pressure to meet deadlines. The clients we worked with are amazing. Firetoss is very loyal to their clients and there is a culture of working hard to help clients meet their goals. There is a large SEO team and an equal sized media buying team. The Director of Marketing, Dallin, spent a lot of time with me and others coaching and mentoring. The office is very cool. It is very much a representation of who works here. There is a great kitchen with restaurant style booths and they stock it with food from Costco each week. There is a pool table and a ping pong table as well. They have couches and TVs around and you are free to work where you want. Some people have standing desks that move up and down. I worked with a lot of people here that I respect and will continue to be friends with. I don’t have any real complaints other than interns that didn’t work as hard as they seemed they would in the interviews. But, honestly, that is why they start as interns. There are mostly full time staff and they are some very honest hard working people. I learned from developers, clients managers, designers, content writers, analytics geniuses, seo strategists, media buyers, the lovers, the dreamers and me. Thanks for all the fish. As I read some of the other reviews [negative] on here I realize that there is a little bit of a double-edge sword with the culture here. From interns to senior staff, everyone is treated very equally. This probably doesn’t do any good to help younger employees understand that some of the people at this company have been doing this since the 90s. If you sit at lunch [free lunch] with someone and discuss personal things you can easily forget that the person across from you was doing this professionally before you were even born. If felt like I go a lot of raises during my short time here. I felt like I had a lot of opportunity. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 679750 Open Hire more pros like Spencer and Rod. They were amazing hires and helped everyone at the company the minute they walked through the door. The intern program, which makes up 3-5 people of roughly 35 that work there, seems to be the source of any negative reviews. Maybe it's time to close it down? You only hear complaints online from people making $15/hr or less. Most people are salary here and get amazing benefits. I don't know for sure what everyone makes but most people own houses and drive nice cars. It's not $15/hr. I made a lot of money for someone at the beginning of a career. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Feb 12th, 2021 07:42PM Feb 12th, 2021 07:42PM Firetoss Technology

private:firetoss https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=679750 May 23rd, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Firetoss Salt Lake City, UT This is a good place to learn. Short Term. The culture of learning is very strong, and it is very easy to get into the agency world by starting out in the variety of internship positions that they offer. The working environment and culture are great. The people are helpful, friendly and collaborative. I really enjoyed working at Firetoss and was very happy to come to work every day. If it were not for the cons I would still be there. They pay much much less than is usual for similar positions in the industry and frequently break internship/labor laws. Interns are paid a monthly stipend of $250. Within a few weeks/months of learning these interns will offset the workload of underpaid full-time employees. Interns are expected to, after a certain stage of experience, further their own advancement by conducting independent industry research to improve or add new department processes. When I was hired I was lead to believe that the usual practice was 3 months of internship and then part-time paid, after six months, usually a full time paid position is offered. I met with my superiors (when I could find them available) multiple times over the course of my six months there. At 3 months I inquired about the next steps to getting paid as I had positive feedback on my work. I was told that the goal was now for each department member to have their own "specialty" in the industry and that if I wanted a position I would need to design the processes for the department for that specialty. I was frustrated to have the goal posts moved, but felt that learning to design new processes and take ownership of this project was an exciting opportunity. The project I was solely responsible for was designing the process by which a service that is advertised to clients, (and had not been actually done during my time there) would be implemented. For the next 3 months, in the spirit of learning and helping my team members, I worked unpaid to design new processes for the department. I spent extra time outside of work hours to research and plan. I don't blame them for my extra time as this was my choice. After working on this new assignment for another 3 months it took several attempts to secure a meeting with my boss to followup not only on my own advancement but also regarding the processes and project I had been working on. It was then revealed to me that because of the poor financial state of the company's last 3 months there was no budget to pay me unless they signed new clients. When I asked what I could personally do to help secure more business I was told there was nothing I could do. It was at this meeting that I gave my notice. If I had been given any indication that my performance was inadequate or that I was substandard I would have understood but I was given only praise for my work and reassurances for the future. I was not the only person this happened to, and a more senior intern had been there for 8 months, unpaid, and their role was changed 3 times, all with increased responsibility and less clarity on the payment structure, I don't know if they were ever paid. To conclude, I would say to anyone looking to work here that it is absolutely a great place to work, but you must realize that any promises made to you are liquid and that you will need to be vigilant and shrewd about your advancement and payment. Set realistic expectations for your own experience and if promises are broken, do not give them more of your time for free. I still think Firetoss is a good company. and I know that there are some who have had a completely different experience from mine. I'm still sad that things worked out this way as I really wanted to work there fulltime. 1.0 POSITIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 1.0 2.0 4.0 3.0 3.0 1.0 2.0 679750 Open There is no Human Resources Department at Firetoss. Having a person or people in charge of monitoring young employees training would greatly help the consistency and quality of work done by lower level employees. That department would also be able to take the burden off of Department Managers from having to tell their workers what a good job they are doing but also that they cannot afford to hire them. This is a terrible position to put your managers in and having an HR department would alleviate that pressure and also help lower level employees feel that their situation is being monitored. 0.0 [] PART_TIME No No 1.0 Feb 12th, 2021 07:42PM Feb 12th, 2021 07:42PM Firetoss Technology

private:firetoss https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=679750 Feb 26th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Firetoss United States USA Abysmal pay, horrible management Great co-workers and relaxed atmosphere The pay is well below market range. Full time developers and designers are paid as little as $12-15/hr and told that their skillset is "almost there" indefinitely. Management is not supportive of bolstering these skills in anyway, instead opting to make employees feel that they aren't adequate and the pay is accurate for their skillset. These same employees then leave in droves and manage to secure full-time, salaried positions at market rates. In my opinion, this practice is predatory to young people who are just starting their careers. At one point the CTO, Marketing, and Sales Manager were all let go with no prior notice and these same employees being paid $12-15/hr were then expected to take on the tasks of these C-level managers with no pay raise or additional help supplied all in the name of "team spirit". Ability to make payroll and hire new employees is based on the company's ability to actually acquire new clients and complete work on time, which is not happening. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 3.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 679750 Open Pay employees market value wages or else you will get exactly what you pay for. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 1.0 Feb 12th, 2021 07:42PM Feb 12th, 2021 07:42PM Firetoss Technology
