It is the global leader in fistula treatment, filling a serious unmet need. And with the average cost of surgery being just $586, every dollar donated goes a long way. The Foundation is extremely ethical and transparent in its reporting of impacts and its use of donations—directing as much as possible to programs. I've even encouraged friends and family to become donors because the Foundation abides by the exact values I want to see in a nonprofit I support. The team is talented and hard working. Everyone wears many hats and there’s a lot of opportunity to learn and grow while being supported in a collaborative environment. The leadership cares a lot about work-life balance and about supporting individual team members’ goals as much as possible. There aren’t many and they aren’t very serious. Fistula Foundation's mission is outstanding. It is truly profound to go to work every day, knowing that you are giving a woman the precious gift of health. What's more, this vital mission is embraced by the staff, and it shows. The team here is dedicated, supportive, driven, and kind. Fistula Foundation is well-run, transparent, and effective with all its resources. The leadership takes its responsibility seriously and steers the organization well. I feel very lucky to do this work. In previous nonprofit jobs, I felt that I was sowing seeds that I would never see come to fruition. However, one fistula repair surgery can truly transform a woman’s life. That’s a great feeling! This is a company that invests in its staff by prioritizing professional growth, rewarding hard work, and managing a healthy work/life balance. Overall, integrity is at the heart of everything, and it trickles all the way down from the management to the staff. The office environment is kind, friendly, and collaborative. Every single one of the people who work here believe wholeheartedly in the organization's mission, and it shows in their character. It is a privilege to work with our partners, doctors, and staff in the field because they do such life changing work. Coming from a previous job that was quite toxic, I found working for Fistula Foundation to be healing. That may sound strange in a review of a place you work for. However, healing, is actually the work that the Foundation is engaged in enabling our partners to do for women in need of treatment. That there is an element of care and healing in the office is probably one of the biggest pros about working here for me. The atmosphere is friendly and generally relaxed. Benefits are terrific, including fully paid health care premium, summer hours -- meaning early out on Fridays, and generous PTO. New employees usually get to go to Africa to see the work being supported by the Foundation. Because it's a women's health issue, women seem to be attracted to working here. Women who without the Foundation and the work the staff does would not receive the surgery they so desperately need. It is literally life transforming for them. Working at the Foundation provides the opportunity to do real good in the world. Over and above a compelling mission, the Foundation is a generous and fair employer providing a solid raft of benefits and a relaxed and pleasant working environment with a great team who are all deeply committed. Also, as it is a growing organisation, there is the opportunity to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
