Everybody there was smart and supportive. It's a cool looking place with stuff to do outside of work, including exploring the Botanical Gardens, 3D printing, and podcasting. Management is very supportive. You can walk into the offices and speak with them about anything that bothers you. The staff genuinely cares about helping the students. The only problem lies outside of the library where, HR and budgets come into play. It's extremely hard to get money for anything that isn't STEM related. Small schools are very vulnerable to economic downturns as well. Most of the people laid off from COVID 19 were positions that didn't bring money. The surrounding area kind of sucks too. It's not dangerous, but it is rundown. Melbourne in general is boring. Overall the library is a pretty cool place to work though. I had great coworkers but my immediate supervisor micro-managed everything. I accepted a lower paid position to get away. I get courses regularly and the staff is so supportive. I couldn't be happier.
