Positive but ever-changing work environment
The people working at FSQ are great. This is a very diverse work environment, pushing inclusivity, conversation, and a very balanced life.
Constantly changing leadership and structure. Feels a lot like a start up even though they have been an established company for years. Wanting to go public but they have a lot of work to do internally and financially before that is feasible

Great company to work for
Great pay. Great work life balance. Amazing people. You have to work hard but as long as you get the job done there is zero micromanaging
Don’t really have any. The company is in a tough spot financially as are all tech firms at the moment

Beginning of the end.
Got to work with a lot of great, talented, smart peers across multiple teams. The people who care about the products and providing a great service really stand out and it’s easy to see.
Work/life balance has always been easy, and there are ample opportunities to grow, learn, and better yourself.
The current version of FSQ seems to have no direction or purpose. The products that currently bring in 90% of the revenue are not getting the support or attention they deserve and competitors offerings are catching up or surpassing Foursquare’s. There is a new pivot to a “geospatial” platform that executives have been discussing and promoting, but products, updates, and services consistently get pushed back and dropped with little to no transparency. Clients are honestly kind of sick of being told hold on, it’s almost here, and it shows. Leadership does not understand how advertising/media sales needs to work, and treat the ad tech sales as a SaaS or enterprise organization, which it is not.
The sales team and client services teams have been re-organized multiple times over the course of a year with the promise that this latest iteration will be the one that works, when it was never broken in the first place. Disruptive changes that make little to no sense keep happening and layoffs and turnover is constant.
The HR team ignores legitimate toxic workplace reports and people who have tenure at the company get away with harassment and retaliation constantly. For the amount of work and effort that goes into workplace harassment training and diversity and inclusion, none of it is actually followed in practice and it is all for show.
This truly was a fun and inspiring place to work, but now it just is a hollow shell of its former self.
