This opinion is as honest a cautionary review as I can provide. It is not vindictive review by a disgruntled former employee. I am still quite close to many at FranConnect in Herndon and hope they turn the ship around. I cannot, however, recommend working there under the leadership in place in 2020.
Common characteristic is a top-down executive micromanagement where employees are considered easily replaced. There is a wide gap between executive and line employees who have no equity and little inclusion to decisions in their areas of expertise.
Dated product with no significant update in years, except some late-to-the-game data integration and UI changes. Constant crisis management in support.
First-time CEO has no interest in data or opinions outside her preconceived direction. Poor decisions and radical changes, poorly planned, leave teams in constant disarray.
Huge gap between executives and non-executives are stark in a small company with less than 40 in the office. No equity for line employees. Bonus paid on “general performance impressions” of department and individual, not MBOs. Little inclusion or input to decisions beyond cosmetic surveys or perfunctory “lunch with CEO”. Executives are exempt from 360 reviews.
Employees there longer than 2 years have survived by keeping their head down and mouth shut, while privately expressing clear and actionable concerns about what they’re being asked to do. Many have years of discipline experience being disregarded by a company that places little value on expertise.
Don’t buy the “we’ve changed” line. Employees were asked to write positive reviews on job boards. If Serent Capital is still a principal investor or Gabby is still CEO, it hasn’t changed.
Do not work here until you have a clear exit plan. The habits formed here will kill your career.
