private:funraise https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1926265 Sep 14th, 2023 12:00AM Open Open Funraise Account Executive Costa Mesa, CA A lot of potential…. Unlimited PTO - Very flexible time off policies which allows for a good recharging of your battery. Also, department wide mental health days which are great Positive WFH Environment - There were a lot of internal meetings which in my opinion, are great for a team that is 100% remote. Promotes a great team like environment where you actually know the people you work with. Salary - Salary was decent for the role in comparison to those in the industry. Lower Management - The sales managers truly were invested in their teams successes. It may come off a bit micromanage-y but you can tell that they care. They are open to feedback, take accountability, and try to be as transparent as possible. There were individual check-ins and they were always willing to get their hands dirty in deals. Where should I start? Transparency - Upon coming onboard the team, we were all sold a dream that was really a nightmare. Told 100% of the team was hitting quota and you’ll make good money. So far from truth. You’ll also be told, they don’t fire people without warning or PIPs, also not true. Even these reviews aren’t transparent as it’s obvious that one of them was done by upper management posed as an AE (which also speaks to the integrity of some management and the validity of all the statements you’re about to read). You are essentially a SDR who works deals occasionally. Commission - First off, payouts are quarterly. Who can live like that? Which won’t matter because of the way it’s structured, you won’t make any commission anyway. If you close a decent deal, you will barely make anything off it and it essentially takes a year to accrue if you’re there that long. Almost impossible to make any money in your first year with this company so make sure you negotiate your salary appropriately because you’ll be living off that. There is very little motivation to sell and definitely no motivation to sell the large deals they pressure you to find. In my opinion, the amount of effort that goes into being successful at this company is not worth the output. Not in the least. You can put 1/3 of the energy into a well structured company and it will pay off 150% more. Unrealistic Expectations and Goals - The team would be lucky if one of the many AEs hit quota. For my tenure at Funraise, I had worked with some of the most talented, driven, and competent sales people who were all pushed out either by being let go or resigning due to how much of a dumpster fire the company is. Everyone was stressed while watching the same few people close deals that were usually inbound. Upper Management - While lower management tried hard to keep us positive and productive, issues or feedback to upper management was often responded to by gaslighting, defensiveness, passive aggression, and lack of accountability. Created a very toxic work culture with out-of-touch management who can’t read the room or see the elephant sitting in the corner. Product - The product is good for the market and there is a ton of potential here however they made changes that eliminated a lot of the customers we could sell to. This was done with the intention of getting in more quality deals but what it really did was deter most with complicated pricing and high fees. Neither of which are appealing to the customers, which were nonprofits. They would have seen this if they actually listened to those on the front lines. So if you want to work in a high pressure, little reward, sales environment all the while being constantly worried who’s next to be let go….. go for it. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 1926265 Open Restructure your sales department, like yesterday. Bring in some higher level management that have sales leadership experience. The historically high turnover rate is directly correlated to management. Be transparent especially with those you are bringing on. Stay true to your values of promoting a positive culture because what you have there is far from positive for anyone but a few reps and you even have them sweating. The sales environment is hard for any human to thrive in. Regardless of the fact it is sales, it should not be like that. Reevaluate the commission structure. It is not beneficial for anyone. It gives very little motivation for seasoned reps to work hard. Take ownership over the fact that none of the processes used are sustainable. You have had some incredibly talented and intelligent AEs come through. Do more to keep them. The constant resigning, hiring and firing is not an indicator of a successful company. Identify your weaknesses and make internal changes with ego’s aside. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 1.0 Open Sep 16th, 2023 04:04PM Sep 16th, 2023 04:04PM Funraise

private:funraise https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1926265 Jun 12th, 2023 12:00AM Open Open Funraise Account Executive Great job but not chill - the product is awesome and primed to gobble up lots of market share - senior leadership has really impressive backgrounds, great vision, and unique talents - department leaders across the company are in sync with the overall mission and do really excellent work (R&D, CS, and Marketing all have driven, talented people) - sales management is inexperienced (promoted from within) but well-intentioned and willing to grow, most of the growing pains mentioned in other reviews have already been addressed which will be nice for future AEs - they promote from within - work with nonprofits of all sizes; access massive Enterprise accounts from day one and close them to permanently improve your resume - base pay is fair, benefits are great - cool teammates from all over - work from home, generally don't mind if you have to pick up your kids or whatever just be accessible during work hours - high risk high reward situation; it's a volatile startup but with that comes potential for accelerated career growth - encouragement to develop as a thought leader and build your network; great job to springboard into the nonprofit tech industry as a whole - lots of cultural openness around mental health and personal growth - excellent coaching to hone your sales skills at every stage of the sales cycle - compelling comp plan with tons of earning potential I think this is an awesome opportunity if you're looking for a classic sales job that's gonna prep you for big career growth; just be aware that it's a grind! - there are no SDRs! you will receive some inbound leads but most deals are generated through cold outbound prospecting (minimum 25-50 calls daily) - paths to promotion are currently unclear - takes a long time to generate substantial commissions; some deals are shorter sales cycles but those tend to only be a fraction of what you need to hit targets. larger deals are necessary to hit targets but often take months or even years of nurturing. - it's super intense. you're both an SDR trying to gain traction in a saturated market and a world-class SaaS AE doing full tech demos for C-suites at massive nonprofits. the stakes and expectations are very high for both aspects of the job. - things change super quick. the growth curve eased a bit after onboarding but this is not a job where you cannot rely on muscle memory very much - expectations are high. everything you do is recorded and analyzed. it'll help you get better quick but be ready - it's a scrappy, lean company. there's occasional dissonance between values and execution but I've seen them take feedback seriously and make positive changes 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 1926265 Open - expand the HR department for more credibility with future talent - foster more open communication so that people feel completely comfortable sharing critical feedback - clarify paths to promotion, equity, etc - let AEs 'peak behind the curtain' more. we already feel tremendous pressure due to our roles in this group project; let's get a better picture of where the ship is heading on a regular basis, good or bad - diversify; have an elite outbound AE unit that hunts the best enterprise accounts, hire SDRs that work for the normie outbound AEs in the mid-market/SMB space so they can focus on deal management, have some reps specialize in inbound, channel sales, upsells/renewals, etc etc. I'm spitballing here but the more you can specialize people's roles the more effective they'll be at their jobs and it would provide clearer possible career paths. Enterprise AEs might not be good at being an SDR and vice versa, you're not going to find a bunch of reps who are great at everything and that's going to keep creating chinks in the armor of the sales machine - 4 day work week?? Incredible culture, forward thinking leadership, purpose driven, great benefits, and remote. Working for a startup certainly has its challenges, but there is a lot of passion and heart in everything we do here. I'm constantly inspired by the work that is done, and it's rewarding seeing so many organizations thrive because of our technology and support. They offer a pretty good base pay and commission opportunity. While the commission payouts could be better, they're very competitive and uncapped. If you're a hard worker with drive to succeed and can manage your deals, you will be successful. Amazing work-life balance with unlimited PTO and flexible management to accommodate time off. Outbound prospecting is somewhat tedious with some of the technologies and processes in place. The path to promotions isn't super clear or defined. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 1926265 Open While the management team is still growing and learning, I feel they do a great job. If you're doing your work and learning to become independent (run the full sales cycle successfully), they will let you do your thing. If you're struggling to hit your KPIs and quota, they'll put together a plan in place and manage more closely. While it sometimes seems like the managers are somewhat overwhelmed with the number of AEs they need to oversee they do their best to get back to their reps ASAP. Would seem to be advantageous to bring on another manager or lead AE to help with the rest of the reps. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Open Jun 3rd, 2023 09:57AM Jun 3rd, 2023 09:57AM Funraise
