I feel compelled to write a review, after reading all the absolutely untrue ones in this section. This is seriously the best organization I have ever worked for and I have worked for quite a few. The level of engagement, empathy and transparency is mind blowing. The outreach to the advancement of POC is demonstrable through their support and giving; the working environment is pleasant, challenging and extremely rewarding. Folks here want you to be successful and will go above and beyond to ensure that happens. I am very connected to the shop floor as well, people are treated with respect, honesty, dignity and encouragement. The overall business is moving forward in a positive way through words and deeds, and it is evident in all they do. I am proud to be apart of the Gaia Herbs family and love coming to work everyday, in easy times and in challenging times; the people here passionate and focused on leaving it better than they found it. Come and work here, you will see these negative reviews are absolute vitriol.

Great mission, has potential to be something special. Leaders who cared about people and practice what they preach.

The CEO who was “disappeared” was a champion for diversity, and the business even made an anti-racist statement with her in charge. I knew I was in the right place when I saw this statement. After an email with no answers from an all-white board, the racists are celebrating her departure, and many of us who cared are looking for new jobs. This was the best place I’d ever worked.

The rich, white owners don’t seem to know what they are doing, and will apparently remove people who stand up for diversity. I joined a business because of what it seemed it was. Now I can’t wait to leave. Representation and actions matter.

Finally, change was made

This used to be a really great company until the most recent past CEO wrecked it. Her personal needs got in the way of running the business. Heard she was let go recently so maybe now they can get the company back to where it used to be. They had a great mission when they were started and stuck to that until the leadership change a few years ago,

Under the CEO that was just let go it was all about her personal agenda and people who were loyal to her and acted as her puppets were treated well. Everyone else got the shaft.

Gaia Herbs is a special place. This is an organization that truly values its employees, and it shows that in various ways: competitive salaries/wages, extremely generous paid-time off, an on-site chef that prepares gourmet meals twice a week, a farm program that allows employees to take home organic vegetables, fun employee events, and most importantly...managers that care about their employees. Sure, the company is not perfect. It is a growing company, and in a few ways, it is still finding its footing. But for the most part, this is an organization that is focused on doing business and treating its employees the right way. If it wasn't for an opportunity of career advancement, I would still be working here.

While I wouldn't necessarily call it a con, you will definitely earn your paycheck when you work here. This is not a company where you can come in and "coast" or cut corners. There are clear expectations and goals to be met, so if you are looking for a job where you can come in and maintain status quo, it might not be the best place for you.

Continue to do the little things that make the employees feel valued/appreciated. As companies grow, sometimes that organic/family feel can be lost. It is still intact at Gaia, but I hope efforts are made to maintain that.

Love working at Gaia. They have an employee produce program so we can have a farm share off the organic farm. They offer generous maternity leave for both parents. People are very nice to each other.
|
Some of the jobs are difficult and the pay could be a little better for these more manual-based positions.
