Difficult to blend in, a bit like working in a library, far to corporate, lack of templates, and procedures. I was mainly seconded so didn't know anybody at Head Office and difficult to mingle.
Worked on some great projects, great experience.

G&T was an environment that required 10 hours per day of production. I had contact with the Managing Director that is now retired. Due to the change of Board of Directors I find myself seeking new employment.

Overall is fine but quite strange atmosphere
|
Your colleagues are mostly 95% from UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia and other commonwealth countries. It rare to see local US staffs which are considered a minority.
Some time you will get a weird phone call from the
lady (Finance Manager) to ask you if you are a US citizen or permanent resident. Before you answer, please be sure to ask her back what is the purpose of this phone call. If she didn't tell you, please don't tell her anything but she will eventually leak it out to you that the company is being audited by US Immigration Services. And the company is being audited all year round due to many staffs are sent directly from abroad and are not holding a proper work permit. Most of them are holding an E2 visa (business visa) which is not suppose to be paid under payroll and earn any benefit.
As far as career advancement, the company will throw some training about tax and anti bribery for you to learn here and there. Nothing more than this. If you are a local staff with estimating background, you will do estimating forever. There will be no introduction or cross training about cost management for you to learn and advance your career at all. That is why most of cost managers are all from UK.
And some of associate directors are allowed to be slacked and go on the internet all day long. One of them is at estimating department.
They offer lots of time off and happy hours which is very nice of them. Most of staffs are very pleasant and helpful.
