I have worked for gelder now for 4 years and have to say I enjoy my job they give you a van power tools and it's weekly pay if you are a grafter you will have a great time with some great colleagues I would recommend working for gelder .

Stay well clear!!!
Never get to finish a job and jobs are like 70 miles from your house on average.
No company phone but expected to take pictures of everything on your personal phone.
You get shoved on jobs on your own and get asked every 5 mins by the manager when youll be done. You feel very stressed at night when you get home.

Not as the public image people believe

As an IRR (Insurance repairs) contract manager we were under pressure to meet unrealistic schedules laid out for us by “surveyors” (a term used loosely)
Poor trades, poor treatment of apprentices, a “clicky” work place where your ability was out weighed by who you knew/were related too and who brown nosed the best!
The department was ran by a person with no construction experience so found their opinion to be mis placed and hard to swallow.
Generally not a nice experience although the stores guys, mechanics and a couple of the secretaries were lovely people.

You get treated like dirt. Management dont care about staff and how bad they talk to you. They havent a clue how to manage jobs. Most jobs are wrong and your not given scopes. Your ok if you sniff the managers bum. You may stay. Be aware there turnover of staff is extremely high.

Terrible place to work the managers treat young workers horrifically.
|
The days always started of going in to the yard for 7:00AM and there we would go in the office to find where we was working and what we would be doing and from there we would go get any materials needed for the job and then set of straight to the job most days we finished at 4:30PM all depended on the traffic and how much work was to be done.
