There are three types of draft that the supervisors implement: shaft draft, voluntary draft, the draft. ALL forms of the draft requires you to work 8 hour shifts. A shift can be short one person and they will draft half of the previous shift. The culture is outdated. Of course favoritism runs that of a cheetah. As a worker I did not feel like my job was secured and when I talk to the director she would seem like she's understanding but will try and take you out because the company is at will once they get what they need from you that get you out unless you become a puppet of theres Pay & benefits Environmental services was getting paid if not the same then a little more. As a lab tech I shouldn't be receiving the same pay as registration, Evs, ect working in pathology is a lot to deal including the morgue. Overall Gw hospital isn't the worst but it isn't what you'll expect. Gw is promoted as this great hospital but its equivalent to UMC hospital. Overall I loved my job and the people I worked around and with and of course the benefit package was a plus. The pay wasn't good, the night time differential and the annual raise was a joke. If the University focused more on their staff than making money it would be a better organization to work for because during the pandemic(COVID) my shift was terminated and I was laid off but that entire experience was unprofessional. I had to finalize closing out my benefit package and had some issue with signatures via the email and they wouldn't even allow me to meet with the HR specialist on-campus to finalize my paper work it doesn't get no worse then that. I am sort of glad I was laid off so that I can get into a career with a company that values me and my work enthusiasm. The benefits package offered by the university was exceptional, including ample time off and retirement. There are people there that truly cared about making sure the students had the best experience possible. There were also some that just came for the paycheck. The higher ups at the university feign interest in the well-being of the employees, but that didn't stop them from cutting over 100 positions from lower waged employees, including my own, while keeping their cushy six or seven figure positions. In the end, it's all about money for GW, at the expense of students and staff, but it was good while it lasted.
