What a GIANT shame. The REAL glassybaby story...
|
If you want to be treated like you just got put in a time out and you’re in kindergarten, this is a great job for you. The ‘upper level’ managers are life and soul sucking. Bullies, rude, uncaring, snobby. If you like working minimum wage selling something with a mixed-message attached to it, get a job here. They do not care about anyone but our founder. Don’t YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR life have a medical or family emergency. They could care less. There are some great employees that work hard, are barely able to use the restroom, make minimum wage, never given a thank you or a raise or even a glassybaby. My 18 months working there, I was never given a review. The public image is not the real glassybaby. It actually breaks my heart because I was a huge fan and a true believer. Now I know the truth. AWFUL! Incredibly disappointed and sad. Customers are unhappy they took away free shipping and customers are also confused about the actual ‘donations’ glassybaby supposedly makes. It gets a little murky here. Honestly, not sure EXACTLY where the donation is going. So the communication is non existent. What used to be clear, is extra confusing to both employees and customers. People love to buy glassybabys because of the ‘story’ and public perception of ‘one of a kindness’. Smoke and mirrors

Great work environment, fun, inspiring and creative!
|
I spent my 20 plus year career in luxury retail in roles such as sales manager, buyer, and event planner. I loved it very much until it just got too corperate, and took me away from the very thing I loved which was customer interaction. I left in 2016 to pursue my consulting career, but missed the daily interaction with customers, so I decided to start looking for a company that was heart based, where I could make a difference through my work, and viola, Glassybaby appeared!
Every day at Glassybaby is different, we get to talk to fans of the product who know it well, and educate those who are discovering it for the first time. We get to host shopping events for local charities in our store and give back to our community, and do pop ups at awesome locations!
I walk away every day fulfilled and grateful for Glassybaby.
If you like to work in a collaborative environment, where your ideas are welcomed, and you love to be creative and have fun at work.. glassybaby is the place to do that.

Pleasant Helpful Environment

Slow Paced and easy work day. Management was nice but not interested in advancing others. The hardest part was feeling excluded at times due to cultural differences.

A truly terrible place to work
|
I'd never recommend anyone work at glassybaby. When I had the misfortune of working at gb I thought the drama, disorganization, and terrible work environment was because of senior management, but it's really the founder who has created the environment and permits it to thrive.
Team work seems to almost be frowned upon. Senior managers pit middle managers against each other. The place really brings out the worst in people.
The giving element is great but they really over play it and the self-righteousness is smothering.

Good for temp work

I worked during the holiday Christmas period. I worked M-F, full-time. It was a good place to work if you're lookin to make some extra cash during this busy period.

Relaxed and loving environment

I loved that glassybaby gives back to the community! The votives were also gorgeous to look at while you worked. Many of the customers return to the store looking for gifts or to add to their collection, so you become friends with the regulars!

Unique warehouse operations experience

Delivering around Seattle was easily the best part of the job, the opportunities to get fresh non-warehouse air shouldn't be taken for granted.
Plenty of growing pains to work with.

Fun environment
|
When I worked here it was a 5 hour shift, so it gave me a lot of the day to do other things, like if you're a student, parent, or have other obligations. I learned a lot about retail and how to operate many things in the company. My manager was amazing! Still love her. She was extremely helpful and there almost every day I had a shift. My co-workers were also fabulous, very fun nice people. The hardest part of the job would have to be keeping myself busy during slow hours of the day, and standing constantly for 5 hours. My favorite part of the job was talking to customers.
