Mixed bag of good and bad

You will never work with a better group of individuals. The people that Workhuman hires are second to none. The events and perks are amazing when we are able to experience them in person
|
It is very difficult to grow or get promoted no matter how many times you go above and beyond. The only way I have seen others get ahead is to threaten to leave the company. This might be because there are no formal reviews, which is something the company preaches against, however, many managers/leaders aren't looking at the holistic view of someone's accomplishments and capabilities to assess if they are ready to move up, it is only if the individual approaches and truly fights to get a promotion, and even then, it takes years. There are a lot of very good employees that I would classify as flight risks because of this, and I know many people who are actively interviewing

Look at your employees from the standpoint of who is deserving of the next step, or you will end up losing high level contributors.
Also, it is very transparent and cheesy when we do things just for "likes" on social media. Make sure that everything the company gets behind actually matters to leadership, and practice what you preach

Workhuman go on about how important work-life balance is when employees on shifts have none. There's a holiday ban from Black Friday till mid-January. You're expected to work all through Christmas. Getting just Christmas and St. Stephens day off. If they happen to fall on your natural days off you get no extra days off. So seeing family is impossible. The award's system is abused. Some people get 1 small award a month while others give each other multiple awards a week. The chances of progression out of customer service is slim many are there years in the same roles.
They tell you in the interview that there are no targets and take as long as needed with customers. But once you're finished training your manager will inform you that you have to send 60 emails or calls a day. Oh and they all have to be personalized. Any mistake in an email or call being marked by in a QA is an automatic fail. They rarely have team meetings once a month if lucky. Then because of shifts they're often held when you are off, meaning 6 months can go by where you never get to attend a team meeting. They company loves to hold big events but the customer service team and not allowed to go. But they email us all telling us of the amazing time they had. The systems are so non-user-friendly requiring tones of time-consuming duplication of work. Cases (emails, phones) are never handled by the same agent twice. Meaning every time the customer replies to an email chain they get a different agent. Which leads to so much confusion on our end. You have to spend 10 minutes to study a case to understand what is happening just to reply to the email chain. This leads to no ownership of complex cases going around in circles. Every client and supplier has negotiated different terms and conditions. This means it is impossible to learn what the best practices are in certain situations and the rules are always changing. They are now introducing software this year to time our lunches and toilet breaks to see where they can "increase efficiencies" which leads me to think there are even more targets on the way and micromanagement.

The executive leadership team is a boys club. They are condescending and disrespectful to women. If there are six people in a meeting, three are women, and three are men, the men will talk amongst themselves as if they were not there.
They have great perks, but that will only carry you so far; eventually, the cons outweigh the perks. Great for a short time until you see what happens behind the scenes. Most things they do are strictly for the show to the outside world and do not apply within.
