There are also instances where events happen in the office which is a nice demonstration of the work culture that G & O has and allows for others in the office to meet and get to know each other. During my first year I have learned a lot and received helpful support from management. They were also flexible with my school schedule as I was a full-time student while also working full-time at G & O. That is a major reason why I stay as it's hard to find other employers that will be flexible with schooling while also working full-time. They were at the forefront of getting a plan together when Covid hit. They created a team who planned and organized employees being able to work from home so they could still get their income and so that our clients were well taken care of too. They helped employees with equipment and getting set up to work from home. They've provided a protocol to follow during Covid along with appropriate supplies (gloves, masks, hand sanitizer, etc) if we have to drop by an office. They've done so many things for us. Each set of offices has their own attorney and they all are successful and care about their employees and clients. Is the job demanding? Yes, but that's because it is a law firm. There are so many things that must be done properly. As long as you're willing to do the work and take care of the clients, everything is fine. Mr. Goldberg and Mr. Osborne have devoted their whole lives to helping people. That is about the only thing I enjoyed about the job. The managing attorney made for a hostile work environment and no staff members were happy. He never gave compliments of any kind. But after a few years I felt as though it was about the money and not customer satisfaction. With the amount of cases assigned to each Legal Assistant there should have been overtime approval. A typical day for me is fast and furious. I have learned that if you don't believe in the product you stand for, it's hard to do well. I believe in what this firm represents, so it is easy for me to come to work each day. I have been allowed a lot of room to grow with this company. I am in a service role, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I am fully supported by management and all administrative functions within the firm. The people here are wonderful, and I am very honored to be here. I'm not going to say my job is hard, but I will say that it is incredibly challenging (Big difference). I started as a receptionist and ended as a legal assistant. If you are good at your job and have a good attitude, there are resources to advance. Staff, at least at the office I was at, were helpful and willing to answer questions and give direction. I was given many opportunities to grow and rewarded for my effort. They are understaffed and over working their staff especially at the location I worked at. Huge lack of communication and high turn over. Received minimum wage as a Legal Assistant. Management rarely involved. Attorney never once met his clients. Legal Assistant responsible for face to face consultation with potential clients must sell services, breakdown of contracts, client contact, case management, assessment of medical records/damages, writing demand letters, property damage handling, lien negotiations, and much more all for minimum wage. Also many promises made of promotion and wage increases that were never fulfilled.
