Very hot humid greenhouse, physically intense, repetitive work. They are always short staffed and expect you to do the work of 2 people. Production assistants are treated like garbage. They fire people on a whim on a regular basis. There is poor management and people in management have their position because they are friends or family of upper management. They definitely didn't earn their title. Everyone was friendly and helpful. After my 90 days everything changed. Everyone there cuts corners(drop product on floor? it's ok if no one sees it).Once I saw a coworker washing his body in the packhouse sink infront of management who didn't say anything. Also spitting in the greenhouse. Management tells you one thing at the beginning of the day then half way thru the day tells you "youre doing it wrong!."(and belittle you infront of your coworkers). If you try to come up with new ideas to make the work more fun and easy they would shoot it down. They also hire supervisors who have never worked in a greenhouse and lie on their resume to get the job. Same supervisor didnt know how to run a greenhouse. He would take out his own problems on the greenhouse workers. If you sit down for more then 5 minutes(because it 100+ degrees) you'd get talked to be said supervisor about setting a bad example for others. Management always said they would come out and help if you ask, but the never did. I love working in this feild but working for this company has made me really rethink about it. DON'T WORK FOR GOTHAM GREENS P.S. There are so many more things from with this company but i dont wanna waste my engery. Never room for growth nor being open to creative ideas to improve the program. This is a very unorganized work environment. Even with years of prior experince I was denied a pay increase after nearly 3 years. Incredibly inconsiderate management. A typical day at work would consist of your manager nagging you the entire shift. you must be able to stand for SEVERAL hours with the exception of one 45 minute break. the management is incredibly inconsiderate and the company overall does not care about you or the product they are selling. during my time there I witnessed the supervisor being rude to majority of the packers with the exception of her favorites. if you have a life outside of work please do yourself a favor and DO NOT APPLY. you will not be able to leave early, ask for days off, or anything involving you not being at work. this company WILL over work you. the schedule is all over the place, some days you'll work 5 hours and other 12+ which is not steady. I read the other reviews of Gotham Greens before deciding to work here. I was hopeful the new Baltimore location would be run better. I was wrong. Long days of hard labor with one break. The work is doable and sometimes enjoyable, but the pay is not enough to keep employees. In my time there I saw multiple people quit. The company only cares about the company they don’t want employees to have an outside life god forbid you have children, you might as well quit. They are so inconsiderate of workers who stay far and travel by public transportation.
