private:grabr https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1281803 Jun 10th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Grabr Growth Manager New York, NY Top notch company and wonderful place to develop and fulfill all your career goals I’ve worked for Grabr for a few years now and I can literally say that working here changed my life. It might seem a bit extreme, but it actually has. And I’ll explain why. Growth within: I started as an intern and I managed to be promoted several times throughout the years. Since the very beginning I always felt I was heard and valued. I had access to every possible resource we had and had the liberty to develop myself as much as I wanted. You can speak freely and know you will be heard. You can join any discussion or meeting you are interested in, even if you don’t want to participate. You can just watch and listen to the people who surround you and learn a great deal from them. I’ve seen other colleagues go from internships to management roles as well, not only myself . But of course, don’t take anything for granted. The vision: The founders have always led the team towards whatever was needed to help the company grow while keeping our values and vision of the company. I think one of the biggest pros of working at Grabr is that you are working to build something that will really IMPACT the world and help millions of people around the globe get what they need, even if they didn’t have access to it in the past, while helping travelers save money on their trips by connecting these 2 entities and letting the magic happen. Results-oriented: Grabr is a data-driven company that will value you for your results, meaning you can easily find your balance between your personal and professional life as long as you prove yourself to be committed and bring results and effort to the table. Again, nothing is taken for granted but if you deliver, you will get rewarded. The challenge of being a global team: Being a global travel company is indeed cool, but it comes with some drawbacks: time zones, cultures, communications, etc. Nothing new under the sun but this is probably one of the biggest challenges that Grabr faced in the past. We have team members all around the world and it was sometimes hard to get the flow across departments. Luckily throughout the past year at Grabr, the founders Daria and Artem, have made an enormous effort by gathering all of us many times under one roof. Things have really changed since then and we have become a stronger and more united team after these in-person meetings. Long story short, there is no question that Grabr is a top notch company and a wonderful place to work. It will surely fulfill all your career goals and more. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 0.0 1281803 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 4.0 Jun 12th, 2020 07:02AM Jun 30th, 2021 09:04AM Grabr Consumer Goods Personal Goods
private:grabr https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1281803 Jun 3rd, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Grabr Operations New York, NY An excellent company to expand your career and grow with I'll start this review by stating I'm a full-time employee with Grabr at their NY office. Looking at many of the reviews, it looks like many of the reviews are from users of the platform, rather than employees. This review is to give the experience of a full-time office employee at Grabr. 1. You will learn a lot Building a marketplace (where you have two sets of customers: supply-side and demand-side) is already known to be one of the hardest businesses to successfully start. As Grabr is very international for such a small company, you are adding to the marketplace experience a number of factors: multiple languages, global markets with varying product demands, different financial and tax systems from all over the world, very specific geographical customer matching from thousands of cities around the world and much more. And that's just the core business. Grabr is revolutionizing more than just the travel industry with a number of products outside of its core marketplace. I'm proud of how much I've learned from my time at Grabr. The fast-paced nature of the business and strong support from the leadership team really allows team members to learn and grow very quickly and efficiently. Some of our past interns started at Grabr with zero experience in the team they interned with as part of a learning experience. Two months later, they were able to join some of the largest companies in the industry, without having had prior experience to their internship. I've really never experienced a company that can teach so much, so effectively. 2. The people If the company culture and your teammates at a company are not good, it doesn’t matter what other pros there are at the company. It’s not a company one should work at. I’m proud to say that Grabr has a great team. Never before have I worked with such a close team. It's unique that Grabr is a relatively small company and so spread out (we have a number of offices around the world), yet somehow so connected. A lot of communication between offices is done via web conference, but we've had plenty of opportunities to travel to different offices and meet the worldwide team. The team is very open and we encourage discussion and transparency. It’s very easy to bring up any concerns with your teammates, your manager, the cofounders or even in front of the entire company during an all-hands meeting. The leadership team truly cares about their employees and it really feels like Grabr puts its employees as its number one priority. 3. Work/Life balance We work hard to fulfill our mission, but we also have a very good work/life balance. I've been in the startup world for years and Grabr has had the best work/life balance. Part of it is achieved by the fact that we have a very strong team that has allowed efficient processes to be developed over the years. We get more done in fewer hours than most startups with unstructured processes. Part of it is achieved due to the respect that the company has for its employees. As with all companies, there will always be cons and complaints. Luckily the pros at Grabr heavily outweigh the cons. 1. Some disconnect at times due to how spread out we are around the world I'm actually amazed about how well we function with so many offices. It could actually be a pro as we tend to cut out unnecessary conversation and make sure that everything is communicated well the first time around, ensuring that meetings are effective and concise. Yet, being so spread out in multiple timezones, sometimes it could take a bit longer to get some clarification. You also miss out on some of the human-factor of being in-person with all of your coworkers. 2. In the past we didn't have the strongest People Ops function This isn't an issue anymore, but when we were a younger company, we should have put more resources into people ops. The lack of it, caused us to make a some very poor hiring choices in the past. The generosity of the entire company led us to be taken advantage of by some bad actors who we hired. Essentially, hiring is actually one of the most difficult jobs at a company and we should have put more resources into it. By not doing so, it cost us a lot of wasted money and time with absolute nonsensical initiatives that hurt us. It's a good thing the current team reversed the damage done and past actions like this really allow us to learn from our mistakes. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 0.0 1281803 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Jun 4th, 2020 06:18AM Jun 30th, 2021 09:04AM Grabr Consumer Goods Personal Goods
private:grabr https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1281803 May 25th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Grabr Anonymous Employee New York, NY I don't think it was Grabr's intention to become a Ponzi Scheme Some really great teammates, especially in the South American offices. Great work/life balance. Some cool travel opportunities. Grabr started out with a pretty incredible vision to upend global commerce. It was a thread-the-needle opportunity that would create a multi-billion dollar business if it was executed with extraordinary precision. It wasn't. The Founders are extremely presentable, very skilled at sales and did an impressive job of raising outside capital. The company had an amazing first couple of years! However, they have virtually no real work experience, chose to insulate themselves with a very young and inexperienced team, and quickly sour on anyone who pointed out potential flaws in their approach or business model. The result is like a bad high school clique, where the founders are the popular kids surrounded by a group of boot lickers that bullies anyone in the company who doesn't make it into the inner circle. "Personal loyalty" to the founders was the thing they valued the most. They would sometimes hire smart, experienced people who would try to steer the company in the right direction, but then quickly sour on them - often treating them very poorly and unprofessionally until they quit. With that foundation, Grabr was doomed to eventually fail and it seems to have now reach that point. While the founders will put all of the blame on Covid, their own mismanagement and questionable judgment are really the culplrits. And a lot of people are getting hurt. The business has had little or no growth for several years, and revenue was inflated with cancelled or duplicate transactions. Venture capital dollars and a brilliant idea to have travelers provide working capital have propped up the business. But as dollars have gotten tighter and tighter, integrity and good judgement have gone out the window. The company was already built on a strategy of lying, cheating and bribing its way through customs (see what the Wall Street Journal had to say on the subject), and now that approach has extended to misdirecting payments meant for travelers to keep the business afloat a little longer. Travelers foot the bill for shoppers' purchases, even though Grabr gets paid upfront. As the company has run out of cash, it has stopped paying travelers, but kept encouraging them to make deliveries and strings them along with promises of payments that are never going to happen. Travelers who work with Grabr thinking they will earn a couple hundred bucks are instead losing a few thousand dollars that they have no hope of ever seeing again. Worse, Grabr continues to string them along to this day, despite knowing that they will never be paid. Social media is strewn with many hundreds of complaints about missing payments. It's a very disappointing end, and sad to see the founders drift from naive decision making to outright ripping many people off. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 1.0 1.0 5.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 0.0 1281803 Open It's time to pull the plug. Artem and Daria always gave the team autonomy to decide and in every time they were needed they were present to help. Great business idea, Grabr begun with such a simple but very impactful idea with lots of possibilities to grow. Flexible hours, just get the job done and nobody will care if you are working less than 8 hours. Working remotely, working at Grabr you could be working from home or from any of the offices worldwide. Lack of an analytics team, sometimes decisions were made based of feelings not on data. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 0.0 1281803 Open Artem and Daria it was a pleasure working with you for these past years, I've seen Grabr making good moves in the right direction. private:grabr https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1281803 Feb 13th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Grabr Marketing Manager Moscow Absolute happiness for those who are on fire with an Grabr idea Currently, I am an employee of the company. I started using the service long before I joined the team. I was on both user sides: as shopper and traveler. I also advised the company on community management questions. And years later I have joined Grabr. I want to say that for those who set themselves difficult goals and want to achieve them, absorbing a huge amount of experience — this is a perfect place to work. Here you are given unlimited opportunities for your self-development, experiments and new areas for work. Just be a little bit active and brave then you've been on your previous job. The company is constantly changing global processes - and this is good. Recently, we again changed the approach to setting goals and choosing ways to achieve them. It has become much better. But still not perfect. Long story short. Before you decide that you want to try to join the team, ask yourself a question: do you burn with the idea of Grabr so much that you can possibly think about it 24/7? I know that it sounds corny, but this is the case when it is incredibly important. By the way, yes, we are not spoiled by a huge number of benefits, like other well-known startups, but we count money. And for me, as an employee, excessive spending of money on unnecessary things is a good sign. Nevertheless, we always have tasty stuff, some compensations for a taxi, the opportunity to travel and all sorts of little things. Everything is not perfect, but every day it gets better and better. I really can not say anything really bad, because in my case this is nothing. Unless, I would like for us to work as a team more closely, to be more attentive to each other and more likely to meet offline more often. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 0.0 1281803 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Feb 14th, 2020 05:26AM Jun 30th, 2021 09:04AM Grabr Consumer Goods Personal Goods
private:grabr https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1281803 Feb 4th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Grabr Customer Experience Analyst São Paulo, São Paulo, São Paulo Far away of being a great place to work! Maybe making some changes, they'll get there. Hi, future Grabr employee! Here what is great about Grabr - In general, there is no time management, but the trust that you will get the job done. - In general, you can work 100% remotely, what is awesome! (of course, that is awesome, if you are a manager as your salary is supposed to be higher!) - You do not have to pay Grabr fees for buying something for you - Monthly budget for happy hours with your local team - People are positive and with good energy. - They pay on time religiously - If you want to meet the team in another country that is fine. - Monthly Global meeting - what is great to check on how business is going as a whole - Opportunity to address questions to the owners during the call and after it - Take time off when you are overwhelmed if needed (tell them beforehand) - Quality of life - You are hired to deliver results - they don't care what time you work (although they prefer you to work at a similar time with your team) as long as you give results. - Company with great potential! it can become a unicorn in the future, BUT only when solving the following below. Hi, future Grabr employee! Here what is really bad at Grabr at least in early 2020! (Let us see if they work on that ASAP) - BTW if they answered this review - believe me, it is a good sign! - You will probably not be valued or praised for your work! - Not sure if it is a Russian culture as the owners are Russians, but this can be awful, especially when you find out that Grabr is a company where people that shouldn't be valued are valued and others (almost all the team) are not (Of course some exception here), but you will probably not be valued or praised by the leadership team neither the owners. - Employee Support & Success = almost 0, which is a pity as their most valuable assets are their employees and do not invest in hiring one career coach/HR full time for the company. - No personal OKR/Feedback/Career plan = You will have no idea if you are doing a great job or not as well if you have a future at the company in higher positions. - Owners say they are reachable and if you have any questions you can reach them, in some cases that might be true, but not particularly to one of them. If you make a "stupid question" you will wish you have never made it in the first place so this is = bad management/no investment whatsoever in a business coach to help them to deal better with people/develop soft skills. - Depending on your team - there are some useless meetings - No communication with some teams and they should be done as they are vital. Ex: CS & Product team - It seems they want the remote culture not for hiring global talents, allowing employees to work wherever they want, but to pay less so if they pay you less what you are worth just because you are living at a cheaper place in their point of view, that is just an excuse to pay you less! - Lack of 1-1 - Pls do it more often! 1.0 POSITIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 2.0 5.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 0.0 1281803 Open Value more your employees - you are starting to improve CS and soon improve CX, NPS and LTV what is great for business! But if you do not invest in Employee Support & Success (ES, EX) you will not go far as it will become hard to maintain great talents, what means more time to be invested in hiring, training and losing money with it. I felt not valued at all for everything I did for you and the company, so invest in ES and EX, they are the most valuable asset you have besides clients. Get a dedicated person to work with Employee Support and their development. Get a business coach to help you and some key team members to perform each day better and of course, become better leaders. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Feb 6th, 2020 05:21AM Jun 30th, 2021 09:04AM Grabr Consumer Goods Personal Goods
