Controlling and micromanagement central

Maybe it was me, but every little thing I did was either criticized or outright redone by my manager, all while telling me I was doing a good job. Very confusing, not at all helpful or productive way to handle things. I'll take criticism (within reason) but don't tell me everything's good then upend it all. Tons of turnover from every department, as well, so there's something very off there.

Amazing experience. The support you receive from your managers is great. I have never worked for a better company and would recommend it to anyone looking

Too many managers, Work overload, Micromanagement, repeated stop and starting of projects, clunky systems
|
Greenphire shines with an in-person culture. When remote, the cracks in management show.
Some managers are very quick to react negatively, micromanagement is a very real concern (insist on weekly one-on-ones, daily updates to progress, excess meetings, lack of action to remove roadblocks).
There are a lot of managers. Too many, in fact. Each scrum team has a manager embedded on the team (in addition to your own personal manager) who will dictate the direction the team should take (rather than the team deciding as in a true Agile environment). Upper management often competes with each other, which leads to switching priorities, dropped projects, and lack of preparation for new projects.
In a typical sprint, you will be expected to complete your own work for your Scrum team, become a performance tester, become an automation expert, become a penetration tester, execute security scans, identify a new area for improvement within the company and execute a plan to implement those changes. Updates on your progress towards these goals are expected on a weekly basis.
Micromanagement is a very, very real problem.
Your own personal goals are chosen for you by management (which align with their own personal goals). The volume of managers means that your own boss wants to make themselves look good for their boss, typically while disregarding your own needs, wants, roadblocks, and personal goals.
|
Decent pay, good amount of vacation time, IT teams follow Agile practices to an extent that they are permitted by management, Culture was good (pre-covid)
|
Too many managers- often with competing goals, Micromanagement, Managers with temper issues, Scrum Masters stretched thin, System development/ design isn't well thought out or coordinated across teams, Tech debt issues are often ignored/ shelved, Extraordinary amount of meetings/ one-on-ones

New Hires: be careful
|
Greenphire is not a bad place to work at all. Everyone is friendly and they are passionate about the company; however, I just wish management had more communication when an employee needs to improve, especially for new hires. That was what ruined it for me.

Ok place to work
|
It was a difficult job. Was extremely confusing at times. People there were great, but the job wasn't for me. Lacked a flow and process docs. May help having a financial background over a clinical background.

Draconian management in software development
|
Management through intimidation and fear. I concur with another review on here. There are 4 people who are dominant on one of the legacy products and if one of them dislikes you, you will get called into a meeting with HR on baseless trumped up performance charges. There is extremely high turnover in the software development section of this company. The work itself is great. Pity about the management though. The gap between the long timers (+5 years- 4 people mentioned) and the rest of the team(~10 ppl) grows wider and wider as more people leave as no one can make it past 2 years on the team I was on.
|
Love the actual product and the work itself
|
Horrible lower level management team; Very clique oriented culture
