When I joined Gusto, I was truly excited to be a part of something so amazing. I truly believed in Gusto's growth because I was a part of it and I worked with some of the smartest, most capable and impactful people ever. I was determined to grow my career and learn with those people. Unfortunately all of that changed drastically during the end of my time at Gusto and I made the choice to leave Gusto. It was clear that Gusto no longer cared about the people anymore. Gusto was taking away most of the benefits that made it such a great place to work. No more fully remote work, no more unlimited PTO, no internal mobility, no career growth and read other reviews for all the things Gusto has taken away.
Gusto no longer cares about the people that do the work and helped to build the company. I joined Gusto because I thought I had finally found a place that invested in their employees as much as the employees invested in Gusto. That is no longer true. I've seen lots of people also laid off with just an email. It's disheartening because it's the same people that dedicated a lot of their time at Gusto as well.
My advice to Gusto would be to start caring again because it's clear that you don't anymore and people are noticing this. How do you claim to care about small businesses if you don't even offer adequate support and benefits for your own employees? Gusto has so many brilliant minds working there, I do hope they start to appreciate those people before they lose them.

Where do I start…
The worst part about this job is literally not knowing anything…..You’re setting your employees up daily by changing processes every single week bro…Not to mention the lack of benefits is so ridiculous for a company that specializes in benefits for small businesses LOL….You know how bad it is that the benefits you offer for others are better than what you get smh!
Absolutely no work life balance…people are burnt out and are walking around like zombies to meet your BS company objectives….
Might I add the falsified data in team meetings are such a joke and couldn’t be further from truth….
You are not paid for the tech issues you encounter…unless it’s a company wide outage…insane
Sick time and PTO is practically nonexistent…can’t even take time off to breathe…you accumulate a measly 2 hours per pay period…trash
I hated it so much. I do not wish this career path on anyone

Co-workers take a lot of pride in the "how". Good work-life balance compared to some other companies. Beautiful office space.

Extremely high turnover. Limited career opportunities. Benefits keep getting diminished over the years. No 401k match. Managerial incompetence. C-Suite leadership speed of turnover is alarming. Slack is the primary company wide database for finding anything which is inefficient. Immature start-up culture (including cliquey office environment) despite being a 12+ year old company.
DEI is a joke. The amount it is talked about in All-Hands meetings doesn't reflect the reality at all levels of the company such as in the C-Suite and in the Engineering and Data groups. Leadership ignores common complaints brought up in All-Hands until these complaints dwindle.

Has its pros and cons for sure, check if your values align with the company's values first.

Gusties are great, love the people I work with. The PE's are also great, kind, and really care about your wellbeing. Health benefits package is also very generous.
|
Internal mobility is really lacking, it is really hard and competitive to move to other position within Gusto. Also the pay is not as nearly as competitive as other SaaS payroll companies.
