Good pay. Terrible work life balance.

Guy Carpenter is a good company on paper. Good pay. Good benefits. Decent amount of flexibility. The main problem is work life balance. Employees are expected to work all day everyday including weekends if necessary. I’ve had 16 hour days fairly consistently. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind doing the hours if they didn’t contain constant interruptions and with fires to put out. Feels like you started a million things and never finish them. Not to mention the hours of needless meetings. Most days consist of 5-7 hours of meetings so you need to work extra hours to get your actual workload completed.

Fun place to work - excellent management

I worked there as a senior IT consultant working on architecture and some project management. The only reason I left was a lifetime opportunity in Europe. Low overhead, not too many levels of hierarchy to deal with along with really nice and professional management.

Great Workplace if your in the right team
|
As per most corporations its a great place to work if your in the right team with the right management leading you., but most back office staff in the service area are left out of events and meetings and emphasis is focused on the front office staff bringing in the money to the business.

Big corporation, sub-par management
Pros: Paid holidays, good work-life balance, good 401k match, average pay
Cons: If you like thinking outside the box, this company isn't for you. They are very set in their own ways and even if you present a solution that's more effective and better, it will not be accepted. Use tons of paper.
Advice: Become more digitalized! Very old school, use a ton of paper unnecessarily

The company focuses on work/job balance with ability to work from home, remotely and benefits. The salaries could be more comparable, but it is made up in benefits and job flexibility. Longevity is very noticeable with employees having significant tenure at the company. Easy to find a 20 year plus employee.

I would recommend to anyone that likes a lot of downtime or not a lot of responsibility, it was great while I was studying for exams for college. overall can get boring if you don't get creative and are not assertive in a slow working environment
