This isn't a negative for most (or me), but employees do need to be comfortable in asking for what they need and knowing how they learn/work best. - Medical coverage isn't fully paid for on family plans - Smaller company, so you need to learn to develop within your own position and team. ATV is a swank place to work. Very cool industrial vibe, free snacks, full of young, smart startups. I even saw TV/movie filming there a few times. Earlier versions were rough but Cascade 8 is a solid product for the right audience. Great benefits for single people without families. Toxic company culture but with a weird, almost cult-like false positivity glazed on top. Seriously stepford-esque. CEO had massive issues with sales. Not surprised to see her blog posts about sales complaints being meaningless since she used to say all you needed to sell was to make more cold calls first thing in the morning and that product features/functionality/higher pricing over competition/etc had no impact. HR was a complete joke and management played favorites. The golden people could do no wrong. Everyone else needs to shut it. The biggest pros are disciplined freedom and support. Hannon Hill gives an incredible amount of freedom to get your work done in your way and a great amount of support. As long as you are meeting your goals, milestones, and expectations, Hannon Hill treats you like a responsible adult. (That is not to say the opposite is true, so don't read into that.) They offer a great amount of support as well, both personally and professionally. Support to help you find ways to make your job fun and interesting, find the technical help you need within the company, and find opportunities to create something you're interested in. Practically unlimited PTO, multiple telework days per week, almost 100% company-paid health insurance, MARTA pass, free breakfast and lunch, use of company laptop, and so much more, Hannon Hill offers a great work life balance environment as well. I never felt like the company didn't have my interests in mind while also obviously keeping their own interests in mind. After all, it is a business to make money and that's what we're there to do. One of the cons, to me personally, is that at times it can feel there is too much collaboration. Receiving help from other departments is great and having multiple departments work together is awesome, and this should be encouraged and celebrated. But that doesn't mean that other departments should perform your job responsibilities in the name of helping the client. Also, I wouldn't see Hannon Hill as a place to make a very large stamp on your resume. Certainly you will be getting a great amount of experience, but it should be noted that your growth potential is somewhat limited due to the size of the company. I was able to make some fabulous moves during my time here, but I see them as a great building block for the rest of my career. I wouldn't necessarily call this a con, but it is not a pro so I am listing it here as something to keep in mind. So be upfront about your professional expectations and take the opportunities for growth and responsibility when they are available. I was around for every employee that has posted reviews on this site, both positive and negative. It took a few years to really start to understand the pros and cons of working for the company. People always talked about this idea of "rockstars" and how you are more interested in them than other types of employees. And I think that's true. But it's not hard to seem like a "rockstar" when you're finding joy in what you're doing at work and wanting to create something new that makes you happy. It's not difficult to stand out against the other employees when the customers see you as someone they can really connect with. So all this talk of "rockstars" is a bit misleading because I think it really boiled down to who wanted to do the minimum amount of work required to maintain employment and receive a paycheck and who wanted to challenge themselves and build a better product and brand. As I was leaving there were some major updates to the products in the pipeline. I hope that you continue to involve the customers in the feedback loop early and often to create features and benefits that are great for them. It is incredibly important to solicit and catalog that feedback because the clients were always incredibly thankful for our efforts to reach them on a human level and remind them that they matter. Please continue to do this. I very much enjoyed my time working at Hannon Hill and I'm incredibly thankful for all of the support I was given and the knowledge I gained. I think you should continue to provide your employees the same work environment that I experienced and remember that you cannot please every single person every single time. I have always felt like every single individual at Hannon Hill genuinely cares about their co-workers and everyone goes above and beyond for clients and prospects. Every team member is smart, respectful, and positive and this is why each and every week its been a pleasure coming to work and why I feel compelled to write this review. The company also does an amazing job giving back to the local community. The company provides regular volunteer outings and has helped with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, Atlanta Food Bank, and Junior Achievement of Georgia. From day one, the leadership team has always promoted open feedback and communication. If anyone ever has an issue, they can always approach the leadership team and provide feedback. I have always felt like I can provide feedback without feeling judged. To me, this is a significant factor in maintaining a healthy work environment. The company also conducts quarterly surveys where individuals can express their personal feedback and any concerns. Personally, I feel like the work environment and people play a significant factor as to why Hannon Hill continues to be a stand out leader in enterprise web content management and web marketing. The people and company culture is something that is truly unique and this makes you want to share that with everyone you talk to. The vacation policy is, literally, unlimited, which indicates that meaningful results for customers is what matters rather than restrictive/dated HR practices. Enterprise sales can result in long sales cycles where the feedback loop and ability to adjust to changing conditions. When people ask me what I like about working at Hannon Hill, I always start with the people. Hannon Hill fosters a positive work environment, and everyone here is passionate about their work, believes in our products and encourages collaboration. Ideas flow freely between departments and company leadership, and my teammates never fail to contribute to cross-functional projects. Hannon Hill is very picky in who we hire, and we only accept smart, passionate, self-starting people who fit the company culture, which is why we all make such a great team! A product of our insanely talented team of people is Cascade Server. We wouldn't be the leading CMS used in Higher Education if we didn't have such great employees working at improving it and getting the word out about it every day! Beyond the people, though, we have really awesome benefits here--unlimited vacation, catered weekly team lunches, free Spotify accounts, access to digital learning resources, season tickets to local sporting events and the option to work from home one to two days per week. The flexibility and personal growth opportunities make this a Millennial's dream job! I've been here about a year and a half and can't imagine going anywhere else! Working in a smaller company like Hannon Hill means that there is no pre-set career path. David started HH while he was still a student at Duke and has grown the company revenue YOY ever since it's inception. He believes in creating an unparalleled culture, and HH is evidence of that. Kat has done a really great job taking over as CEO, and has also done a great job with making some changes to spur growth and to weed out employees that aren't inline with the company values and culture. I worked at Hannon Hill for about 3 years and have nothing but great things to say about my experience there. It was fun, I learned a tremendous amount, and I was given a great deal of responsibility and thus was able to make a real impact on the business. HH is in a very steady industry and it's been the market leader in selling web content management systems to mid-market organizations (namely higher education and government) for over 10 years, so they're definitely not going anywhere. Additionally, David and Kat recently teamed with the rest of management to release a new product called Spectate that is serving as a growth engine to fuel overall company growth and the growth of their flagship product, Cascade Server. Some other pros are that job stability is at a maximum. I saw only one person get fired in 3 years. The company culture is pretty amazing, too. I worked at a very conservative company before, and Hannon Hill is much more progressive and autonomous in allowing their employees to work from anywhere, take unlimited vacation (the thought is that good hires will produce good results regardless of vacation time allotted), and wear casual clothes. You honestly won't find better benefits. The CMS market doesn't look like it's going to allow for huge jumps in growth since it's a mature market, so if you're in sales that's something to be aware of. But then again, Spectate is their new product that's designed to give the company more accelerated growth. Also, the company/management gives a lot of praise. If you're not into praise, you won't like working there. I personally didn't have a problem with this, but this could be a downside if you work alongside someone that isn't pulling their weight. It's a pretty young atmosphere. Way too focused on giving praise and very parsimonious when it comes to compensation.
