A lot of agency over client relationship management and product building process
Wide variety of projects

Leadership is a mixed bag - a few of the people in leadership positions were amazing, the rest were ineffective at best and detrimental at worst.
Sales cycle was poor. Often clients were sold far more work then they paid for and then the PM was asked to convince the clients to remove features or platforms from the scope voluntarily leading to clients being told to pay more for something that they were already promised

Hiring process is highly unprofessional and a reflection of the recruiting manager's competency. There are talented individuals working there but your manager may be one of the worst in the industry. If you value world class service, integrity and professionalism: DO NOT BOTHER.

- diverse project set keeps things interesting
- the relative small size means there's plenty of room to stretch out and try new things, expand your role – it's a good fit for someone looking to help build something
- generally strong in the life/work balance department, though not without busy times
- the team is strong and getting stronger, as is the business itself
- kind, competent people of varying backgrounds
|
- having been here for some time, there have been very rocky times
- it can be a very challenging environment for people who require a lot of direction or are not self-starters
- still developing its company identity, or part of the identity is for things to be rough around the edges
- distributed teams can be difficult to manage, and there isn't as much office camaraderie as some other companies (read: most people have other things to do after work than go out drinking together)
- as noted, lunch options are best if you bring your own

There are many talented people at HFC. Each project offers a new learning opportunity, so you’re constantly growing. Things are never boring because the projects are challenging. The unlimited vacation policy is nice and there are weekly lunches.

The company has it’s growing pains, but things are improving. HQ is located in DUMBO and the lunch options are terrible.

As a designer I enjoy the creative freedom that I get from working in the digital space with talented set of developers. The diverse client portfolio gives me the opportunity to work on a variety of projects keeping my work interesting and challenging. Dumbo while not close to home is a fun place to work and a beautiful area to explore during lunch. It also doesn't hurt that there is unlimited vacation and a flexibility in my schedule when life demands it.

No nonsense, good place to work

Have really nice things to say about HappyFunCorp. The teams work hard, they have a lot of exciting accounts. If you're a designer, engineer or PM or hard core product person who has experience, I think you'll love it here, I certainly do, as do my colleagues. I did see one or two reviews that weren't glowing, I found those surprising.
The founders are no-nonsense, deeply focused on growth, love to code and care about reputation - all good things and all necessary if you want to play in the start up space and be successful.
If you have the opportunity to meet with Ben or Will, do it, they are fun and have a refreshing style.

My sense is if you like hard core structure, this may not be the best place for you. The few moderate reviews were from people who likely wanted a very formal structure and were not startup focused.
