Absolute bare minimum training and a manager who was so bipolar and just didn’t want to teach anyone anything. I’m sure other locations are better but definitely not this place. Upper management was decent but they couldn’t be there all the time. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Hearst seemed like a good company but definitely not in Jacksonville Il.

The Digital Media Sales division is a mess. The training is haphazard and they structured the commission plan so it is hard to make any money. Between the chargebacks and the commission plan you basically live on your base salary because they have a 50 percent cancelllation rate. Once the customer cancels, you get a chargeback on your commissions.
They are constantly changing sales methods and micro managing with out any positive support. That is why there is such high turnover in this department.
It is one of the worst jobs I've ever had.

High stress, continually changing, lack of management support

Typical day includes continual attempts to get things fixed for your clients and being told to just go sell new and forget about the poor upset client. The work itself is fun, high energy and could be rewarding if they would fix the issues. This is a great example of a company promising the world but not having the products to back it up. If you can sell small businesses without being concerned if they actually get what you sold, this is the company for you. With that said, I do believe the upper management is seeing the need to make changes and it can't come to soon. The pay plan continually changes and it seems like you just figure out how to make money when it does. Additionally, this is a highly competitive industry with the digital products and the print has the perception of being old school or dead..
