Employees get a lot of free food due to school events.

All of the cons comments focus on the same two cons; they have a toxic, and at times abusive, senior management, and they are in financial crisis all the time. They will hire full time employees with no real intent on keeping them, working them to the bone for 3-4 months, only to fire them and leave the position vacant for a few months in order to save money. However most of the senior staff have ridiculously high salaries and they will continue to hire, lay off, and pay cut non-senior people in order to keep their own salaries high. Overall it is an incredibly stressful work environment, that will consistently have you afraid of losing your job, or getting pay and benefits cut, all with an administrative staff that is more focused on exploiting their employees to keep their own wages high.
Lastly in the last year Hebrew College has sold most of its physical assets, which does not bod well for its financial crisis and future.

Excellent support staff, really interesting and dynamic Jewish community and learning opportunities through the rabbinical school. Business staff friendly and fun. President is demanding but also inspirational. Good mix of community based programming and high level academics. Very forward thinking online learning model.

Many fine, committed employees but poor senior management and financial crisis

It's a small institution where everyone knows everyone else; students especially like the "homey" feel. Very dynamic with many programs. generous vacation policy.
|
Has been in financial crisis for several years. Most staff had to take pay cuts (those who weren't already laid off). Health care plan gets worse, more expensive each year; no more 401k match. Financial future is very uncertain, staff spends a lot of time worrying about whether it will close. Some top management can be abusive to staff.
