You grow and develop your customer support skills, assisting customers remotely over the phone from the office and working directly with them in person while on the road. There is a high volume of travel with this role and you can expect to see a lot of different places around the country. There is a good US team in place and everyone in the office works to support each other. Trouble shooting and repairs are often limited to simply changing parts out as opposed to be able to actually fix things. This can be frustrating when you run into repairs that would be easier and cheaper to fix then to replace the whole component. For example if there are times you have to replace Ethernet cables with a bad connection on the end. Got to travel quite a bit. Visited most of the US and many other countries. Salary is a joke. For the amount of travel 80%+ the salary is a complete joke. Other companies are paying twice what Hocoma offers with a lot less less travel. The biggest slap in the face was when I asked for a raise after being there for 2 years without a raise and I was told no. Then the company goes and hires new people and their starting salary was higher than what I was making after being there for 2 years. They didn't even try to hide it. They posted the offering salary online. Needless to say I gave my 2 weeks notice as soon as I found this out. The annual bonus is a joke. They say it's 5k but each year I got less than $500. Complete joke. Switzerland has too much interference within the US company. The machine are technical and will give you a good start into the robotics field. Great career opportunity if you are looking to start into the Rehabilitation and/or Robotics field. No growth in the company at all. Hocoma might give you a new title but that is it, no additional responsibilities to better your skills in the field you are in. Switzerland service group second guesses everything the US Service team performs. No long term growth unless you are just looking to be in Service and no more. All field service engineer task of logistics, help desk, field service for the entire US/CAN, scheduling and sometimes IT. All field service engineers are based in Norwell, Ma instead of having them spread across the US. Very high turnover in the company as well. Very friendly environment and organisation. Well connected workplace, one can more than easily live in Zurich. As a student, you are given freedom and expected to have initiative. I saw a lot of collaboration between people of different divisions. At the time I was there, they were about to acquire new space for expansion. People like meetings, a lot! You will be attending many of them. There is no territories for technicians, so you will fly all over the place and spend a ton of time away from home. Company does not make decisions that will increase customer satisfaction and make the company more efficient, seems the company wants to keep making the same margin regardless if that means drastically lower sales numbers.
