The consumers are the best thing about the job. Much of the time, they were more functional than some staff and leadership. At least the HR department offered some unintentional comic relief. My training often consisted entirely of reading along out of a training manual, while the HR worker read aloud. Haven't had to do that since grade school. Delightfully antiquated, and the sea of typos gave it a homemade, bespoke quality. Upper management, middle management, nepotism, verbal abuse, gross unprofessionalism, cover-ups. My boss was the most unprofessional woman I have ever seen, much less had the misfortune of working with. She gossiped about other employees to me and others, cursed like a drunken sailor, and protected another employee, who was a relative, above all others. Her boss was even worse. She would literally tear apart staff in front of other staff and defended that poor behavior as 'training'. A person in low level leadership regularly pitched tantrums, threw small objects in meetings, sabotaged counselors she didn't like and fostered a high school clique dynamic to rival the worst schools everywhere. Part of the clique would listen at the doors of people they didn't like to try to get dirt to sabotage them later. It was like living through Mean Girls, but with much higher stakes. When the bullying situation finally hit the fan, they did about 20 minutes of training that sounded more like education about grade school bullying. Then patted themselves on the back for addressing the problem. It failed to. They promote a culture of dishonesty and try to bamboozle inspectors during audits because they have no quality control. It's a race to cram everything in a chart the week before the audit. They accept literally any consumer without considering whether that person is safe to be around. As a result, staff feel unsafe and some of their consumers attack other consumers. But as long as Horizon makes a buck, who cares, right? I have never quit a job so fast, or been so relieved to do so. I'm glad these are anonymous. To have my name associated with this clown outfit would be terminally embarrassing. If you have the option to flip burgers part time, stand in raw sewage in hip waders, pitchfork hot garbage in a landfill, or work for this place, take anything but a job at Horizon House. You'll be better off. Pay attention to the common themes here in the negative reviews, they echo this one. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 2.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 427389 Open Fire everyone in management at the office and regionally immediately before you get sued out of existence. Staff who are being abused and bullied at work cannot offer your consumers good care.
