good place to start career. Hours are long, but decent opportunities for advancement to legislative roles if you stick it out for a year or two. Also a lot depends on specific member you work for.

Great place to gain experience, however, the work-life balance can be terrible at times. Underpaid for the work performed. I would recommend doing a few years of work and then taking your experience elsewhere.

I've had a really great experience with my Congressman. Working at the U.S. Capitol is an amazing and unique experience that's definitely worth taking advantage of if you have the opportunity, just be mindful of who you work for.

I interned about a few months ago and I would say that my experience was mixed in terms of experience gained. The staff were nice, and the experience looks good on my resume, however a lot of the work assigned was quite repetitive.

Low pay but good experience
|
Pay is very low, but the experience you get is supposed to be worth it. If you want to do policy and government affairs work, go for it. But unless you plan on living in DC, it's hard to get a job in this career path.
