District tests are poorly written and do not provide valuable data, but they are still the focus of most meetings. When I started, I felt like I was having a positive impact on my students, but by the time I left, I felt I was having the opposite. Kids can be horrible, some you love. Top heavy and corrupt. This is not a place to work if you expect to learn, advance your career or be recognized for what you can contribute. Too many people in management that do not have the experience to be in the positions they are in. There is a lot of favoritism, and preference for AKA affiliation in the higher ranks. There is no work life balance and the evaluation procedures are subjective. Union membership is high due to the unhappiness of many employees. On cite clinic at no cost. Holiday breaks with pay. I largely enjoyed teaching the students, but the administrators were usually unsupportive and making teachers jump through the hoops their bosses made them jump through. The admin had clear favorites and those were not favorites were never given any sort of "hey, thanks for showing up and doing what you do for the kids" which would have been more than enough.
