Fine until hours got cut
|
Clearly communicated expectations for job role and fairly regular schedule except for during holidays. Having good coworkers makes it more enjoyable and customers are usually bearable, otherwise the work itself is pretty predictable and expectations don't change much day-to-day. Was better before part timers all got their hours cut though.

Good coworkers, awful corporate
|
Loved the camaraderie of working alongside my fellow workers and getting to make many friends over the time I was employed. Felt awful to have corporate people from outside the store come in and insist that they knew best. Feels like the company is out of touch with what makes people want to shop at a grocery store.

Company was terrible
|
I have been away from hyvee for almost 2 years now but when I was working there they didn't talk to you about anything they would sometimes put you on the schedule without telling you that they were putting you on it. They would also sometimes tell you that you needed to give them a two week notice before you go anywhere with family even if you did tell them they would then tell you that they never got anything from you about needing to leave.

It’s hard work. Lots of walking. I would work long hours and it was fairly stressful. In the end, the crew I worked with was fantastic and made it all worth it.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Liked the customers , made a lot of friends , hours were ok ,
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Pay raises were very rare , they cut out overtime. Last minute orders and no help to get them done . All the wasted food that was trashed .
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pretty good , had a couple managers that complained all the time . Worked with a lady from Ethiopia for several years she was very kind and sweet lady .
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Little stressful at times , when your opening your department and the closer from the night before didn’t do there job .

Working at hyvee is pretty easy. I worked in produce and all I had to do was stock fruits and vegetables. Our store had produce clerks clock out at 7pm so depending on what your availability is you might get limited hours.
