Agile Human Capital Research Firm Doing Big Things
Exceptionally smart and hard-working group of people committed to supporting HR leader effectiveness and success. Small enough to make some bold decisions and move quickly into new opportunities. 5 consecutive record breaking quarters and a stellar reputation among the HR leaders we serve.
Not a great place for people who need lots of structure and support. Better fit for self-starters that can step into ambiguity and make things happen. Fast pace to the work, and relatively high bar for performance and contribution to company's success.

- Good location and plenty of parking available.
- Laid back dress code. No suit, no tie no problem.
- Clients are friendly and extremely understanding.
- Decent benefits.
- Empty promises. Limited opportunity.
- Company doesn't offer competitive wages.
- High turnover in their most important departments.
- They help companies leverage diversity as a competitive asset, yet there is no diversity within their own staff.

Broadest exposure to senior human capital at F500 companies you can imagine in a job
i4cp produces very cool, cutting edge research on the people practices of high performing organizations. Which means almost every employee has the opportunity to interact with CHRO's and SVP's of HR in some of the best known companies in the world. The company is always tackling the latest issues, and the network is a "who's who" of the best and brightest minds in HR. If you love human capital, this is the place for you.
If you don't love human capital, this isn't the place for you. Employees, member organizations, thought leaders and others associated with i4cp live and breath HC issues. Where I've seen some people struggle, including some writing reviews here, is in their inability to embrace and keep up with a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment that focuses solely on people practices in top companies.

Never a dull moment
i4cp is a small company that works with very large companies, which means that if you're someone who likes a lot of variety in terms of projects, or someone who wants to manage several things at once, it's a dynamic place to work.
The work/life balance is also very solid; there are not high expectations to work crazy long hours most of the time.
There can be times where you feel resource-restrained and getting everything you want/need to get done is a challenge.

Great place to work!
The CEO is a true industry visionary who created and lead the growth of a company that today remains one of the leading technology companies in the Learning.HR space. It was an honor to work with him, and to learn from him.
Incredible research staff
Unbiased research, unlike competitors that conduct and skew research favorably for companies that hire them for consulting work. I4CP stays clear of that murky area to keep its research pure.
Great people to work with, internally at the company, and with the members.
Like any organization of this size, growing rapidly, there are challenges to be expected but nothing out of the norm.

A Good Company in Need of Turnover at the Top
opportunities to interact with top HR executives and thought leaders in HCM, decent benefits package (employer covers 100% of health insurance), few established processes make for a great deal of autonomy in execution, opportunities to work remotely/virtually, excellent research and positioning in the HR space
very politically charged environment, dangerous decisions made at the whims of the CEO, very little strategic planning, constant crisis mode, depressing corporate culture, poor internal communication, reactive not proactive, too many high-paid "executives" that impede progress since "the rules do not apply" to them, few established processes in place - poor resource allocation

Show up for work (literally and figuratively). When the same problems keep perpetuating themselves, at some point, you have to attribute it to "leadership" and/or the result of the same people doing the same things, expecting different results. Have the courage to confront these problems head-on, even if it means offending some and/or firing a few.

False Advertising
i4cp has some of the most substantive and enlightening research in the HCM space. The research focus (high-performance orgs) is not necessarily "unique", but i4cp's definition of a HPO is - and that's a big differentiator in that space. The ENTIRE St. Pete office (researchers and editors) are what keeps the company relevant and on the forefront in HCM research. Most of the org works remotely across the country, those who know of i4cp have an overall positive opinion of the research, and the members are some of the most innovative and recognizable businesses in the world.
To be blunt - senior leadership needs a "reset". There is no clear/consistent vision, and as a result senior leaders insulate themselves from what's really happening in "the field" and they adopt a "you're not doing anything" mentality which resonates across the entire organization (all 20 people). Also, sales leadership turns over EVERY YEAR - as does the majority of the sales team. Sales people are made to feel as though they're inept and abject failures when the problem clearly lies at the top of the food chain.
Even more alarming is the fact that i4cp DOES NOT ADHERE TO THE BEST/NEXT PRACTICES THEY ESPOUSE IN THEIR RESEARCH. It's almost laughable that NONE of the research is applied internally - yet you're supposed to admonish "others" to follow your advice?

Clearly management isn't going anywhere, and they've proven that they'd rather replace dissenters than deal with their root issues. I'd recommend to sell the company to CEB or Bersin (since they share many of the same members already).

Disappointing
There is opportunity to interface with senior leaders from some of the biggest and most successful companies on the planet. The company allows most employees to telecommute, the work is very challenging and interesting.
Hired for a specific role but abruptly moved to another function. The executive team is bloated and 100% older white male. Zero diversity or opportunity for promotion. There is no strategy to speak of, decisions are made based on whim of the CEO. Comp plans were changed twice in one year without warning or explanation.

It's hard to hold a race horse steady!
It's such a pleasure working with such smart, committed, hardworking people. We are recognized for our hard work. I appreciate the respect and autonomy from management.
As a new company we struggle daily to define ourselves and work as smartly as we can. It seems we try to be all things to all members - a little overwhelming.
