It got better the longer I was there. Changed from linkbuilding to content management. Learned a lot while there. It is always changing. I had many different job titles over the years. There were a lot of politics behind the scenes and sometimes I felt like there were some moral grey areas. It's a fast placed/exciting place to be if you're interested in digital marketing and SEO; you'll get paid to learn the basics. People don't show up for battle each day for you when you don't provide them with the "why" behind the things you've asked them to do. The company has gone from 100+ people to ~25 in the last year, so there's no reason to list off all the most common reasons a business fails...But ultimately, the buck stops with a CEO. Some of the employees were awesome to work with. I don’t even know where to start. Disappointment? Anguish? Confusion? I was hired along with a few others, under the impression that we were going to work under the job title we were offered. After a week in to my employment, and working under the title I accepted, the position title changed, and then a further two times after that. This was just the beginning of my confusing and anxiety ridden journey. In just a few months the turnover rate increased, rapidly. I've never seen so many people walk out of a job because they were so unhappy. You’d think management would have tried to stop this trend from progressing. Instead, our incentives were “forgotten” and we were left to our own miserable devices. On average, every person that was hired, two employees quit. It was shocking, but the management never addressed it. Speaking of management, they are a joke. They don’t listen, organization is nonexistent and like a previous review mentioned “the company's culture is a colossal train wreck”. Further more, during the morning meetings the director consistently used “transparency” when talking about company updates. The more times she said it, the less I believed her lies. To be honest there was nothing transparent about my time working there, I felt like I was blindfolded walking in to a hornets nest. I had all the motivation an employee should, I swallowed the lies management fed us weekly, and even gave them the benefit of the doubt. The frustration, anger and deprivation of my creativity eventually ate me up inside and destroyed me. I was there under a year and I could hardly bare to wake up in the morning and sit in that office. The CEO’s claim they want to be "part of the team", but they are extremely disconnected from their employees. Instead of seeing their employees as valuable individuals, they see dollar signs sitting behind computer screens, clicking and tapping away, making them more and more money. Rather than spreading praise to those who put their souls into the company, they feed the over-sized ego’s of a few pretentious male employees. Bottom line, they love to bask in their own egotistical lies. Just recently, they did a huge lay-off (second one in a year) and it was the most unprofessional and heartbreaking experience I have ever seen. Apparently this is a common thing that they do, especially on a Friday. Every now and then, we would sit there on a Friday wondering if someone was going to get fired. It was a very stressful environment. I wish I could go on and unveil everything wrong with this company, but I don't even know where to start. I'm surprised they can still keep their doors open. Create a sense of urgency for organization, it's like an intense anxiety attack walking into that office everyday. The struggle here for me is that I am an individual who wants to work hard for a company I believe in. When I was brought on to the iAcquire team, I was under the assumption that it would be a "team" environment, and that the upper management personnel had created a structured yet nurturing culture. One that encouraged creativity and praised innovation. Unfortunately, iAcquire was none of the above. Rather than being an SEO/Marketing firm, as was my assumption upon hire, I quickly learned that iAcquire is reeling to even keep its doors open. The only marketing taking place is faulty marketing. The SEO is not at all like I've encountered in the past, and the integrity and quality of the work is almost nonexistent. As if things could get any worse, the company's culture is a colossal train wreck. While there is nothing wrong with a company hiring predominantly recent graduates, or jobby "first-timers", management does little to set the tone for how employees should behave, how they should interact with one another, and even what time they should arrive to work. During my employment, while I was informed the day began at 8:00 a.m. sharp, majority of the employees strolled in at a leisurely 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. There seemed to be little to no enforcement when it came to what time people come and go. Furthermore, it's nearly impossible to concentrate in a bullpen where girls are busy clamoring the day away about their latest coital exploits and conquests, or are divulging the intimate details of their alcohol induced "sunday-funday shenanigans". Now, don't misunderstand, I'm all about mingling with coworkers and building lasting relationships. But 95% of the time, I felt like I was the victim of a Tina Fey satire. The folks are very cliquey, and no one was particularly welcoming. I had to work overtime just to get some friendly banter reciprocated throughout the day. And finally, management. As soon as I arrived it became abundantly clear that everyone was afraid for their job. No one seemed to have any job security, and perhaps this is to blame for the fact that there is zero growth opportunity here. Employees appear to run their course and then they will either need to exit themselves, or they will face the chopping block. I was made privy to the "mass firings" that go on every handful of months, and I was even there to bear witness to one. It was horrifying. I'd never seen anything more chaotic and unprofessional in my life. Not only did it seem to be wholly unprecedented, but people were dropping like flies. I could feel the beads of sweat forming along my hairline as the hours ticked on. Would I be next? Surely they wouldn't fire me after only just bringing me on, right? Overall, iAcquire is not a place you'd want to work, not a place you can grow, not a place to make meaningful and/or lasting relationships. The girls are vapid, the guys are quintessential bros. Beware of the false advertising here, gang. I learned a lot while working there and I am grateful for the experience. There is ample opportunity to learn the ins and outs of content marketing and SEO, and hard work is rewarded. They're looking for stars, so if you're looking to coast, this isn't the company for you. I love it here -- great people, and my boss is super easy to work with and very reasonable in regard to work-life balance issues. Things change fast here. The incredible coworkers I have had the opportunity to work with has made my job. I have created many friendships and enjoy interacting with my coworkers each day. The Dev team is also extremely passionate and talented in what they do. The industry is ever changing, so you have to be willing to constantly adapt-- which can be very exciting, but also frustrating if you like things to remain the same. Truly, iAcquire knows how to pick wonderful employees. I have made great friends during my time here, and genuinely enjoy interacting with my coworkers. The Dev team is also extremely passionate and talented in what they're able to develop for employees. You do a lot of the same thing each day, so it can definitely be taxing. You have to be willing to do continue to do the job you've been hired to do in an industry that is always changing. It's the startup life: relaxed attire, occasional happy hours, music playing throughout the office, snacks (sometimes), ping pong, mostly cool/talented individuals.
