But the core team were troopers and always felt like the company would pull through the worst. Good people to work with little to no advancement, no raises/bonuses/merit bonuses or compensation. Company has only declined in staff over the years, no expansion. 0.0 0.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 2.0 3.0 Jan 23rd, 2021 01:11AM Mar 20th, 2021 02:56PM Icarus Studios Consumer Goods Leisure Goods
private:icarusstudios https://www.indeed.com/cmp/icarus-studios/reviews May 14th, 2013 12:00AM Open Open Icarus Studios Game Designer/Testing Lead Cary, NC USA Icarus is a hardworking studio with fantastic folks Icarus is a great workplace. We work hard, and we make good products on insanely tight schedules with practically invisible budgets. The company used to be more bloated than it is now. We had to let a number of people go. Some of the major projects were not going to be profitable, and the company had held onto a number of employees that weren't producing work of the quality needed to justify their salaries. We suffered for that miscalculation dearly. Now we watch our projects like hawks, and anything our clients will let us do to improve a project, we do immediately, since waiting for tomorrow might mean doing without the changes entirely. The most valuable lessons I'll take away from Icarus is two-fold that way. You have to fight tooth and nail to make sure the good ideas get pushed through, even if you must compromise a little along the way, but you also have to be willing to kill off a bad idea, even if it's an idea you love and came up with yourself. Being able to objectively judge your work, and the work of your peers, can often mean the difference between success and failure when you are working on a dime-store budget. You just don't have the finds to do the work twice. Excellent co-workers, exciting pace. Not much budget to work with, Convincing clients that their ideas are occasionally...flawed. 0.0 0.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 2.0 3.0 3.0 Jan 23rd, 2021 01:11AM Mar 20th, 2021 06:18PM Icarus Studios Consumer Goods Leisure Goods
