They took extra precaution and cleaning measures for those essential workers that stayed behind in order for us to continue doing business. To date everyone is still employed and working their original set of hours. I am thankful to be able to continue working during these unpredictable times. The projects are interesting and varied, the environment is relaxed and challenging, the people are great. It's hard sometimes, if you are not interested in learning and being challenged then it's not a place for you. As an employee, you'll work with exciting clients and truly talented coworkers from every corner of the company. The variety of project work means you'll have many opportunities to learn new skills and expand your range. Since much of the work is custom, you'll find that creative problem solving is a must-have skill. Company culture is supportive - my supervisor regularly checks in with me to make sure I have what I need. Serving as both a software & hardware provider to some of the worlds most well-known & highly trafficked museums along with corporate, educational, and governmental institutions is incredibly rewarding. There is no "typical day" because the work is primarily project based & while projects are similar in nature, there is enough variety to keep engaged & interested. Plenty of room for personal & professional development, it can be easy to "find your niche" & define success on your own terms. Unfortunately, not all people are able to cope or thrive in this type of environment, some people need constant hand-holding & a highly structured workplace with little freedom or ability to work independently. This is not the place for them. There is always a lot going on at Ideum. Everyone has very interesting and fun projects, but sometimes it can be a lot of work. The leadership /management team are very nice and supportive, and they will tell you if you are falling behind and will try and help you succeed rather than fail. There's no tolerance here for a bad attitude or sneaky stuff. The current group of people here are incredibly organized, driven, have a great work ethic and are incredibly smart. This is not an ordinary place to work at. Ideum strives to be innovative and is not a cookie cutter business. The CEO and all my co-workers are genuine good people. People generally get along and there's a good sense of camaraderie among team members. The work is rewarding, interesting, and challenging - I'm always learning new and different things. In addition, I have a great degree of flexibility when solving technical problems (coding style, platform choice, tools). The only downside is that the pacing of projects can be hectic at times. Deadlines are usually non-extendable and because of this there are times when team members end up working a significant number of extra hours. This is something management is aware of and generally attempts to avoid, but realistically, crunch time is an inevitability given the nature of the work. That being said, team members are almost always supportive of those stuck working extra hours on projects.
