Time I would rather forget

Bright people to work with and evident in the ability for most to learn a new platform and development against it. Other departments staffed knowledgeable, talented people as well. Many employee gatherings either off site or on for coworkers to enjoy.
|
Number one, the 'Ivory Tower' management. Viable communication and support were scarce. Constant change of plans but not updating the workers till 11th hour. Leadership seemed fragmented. Vibrant atmosphere was no longer prevalent as before.

Great Perks, fun atmosphere, capable C level management. Competitive salaries, tough problems to solve - provided you are on the right team!

College-like atmosphere - Manager felt like he was more interested in "hanging out" with the younger employees than being a good manager.
People don't really work on the good stuff unless they are part of the elite ivory tower team and since a lot of the people are very smart, you'll find a ton of arrogant people there!

Great people, but inexperienced Senior Management

Most of the employees are young, smart, passionate and easy to get along with. People really want to make a difference.
|
It seems as if the founders have never had a real job after college. May be better now that they have a real CEO, but previous management's ego exceeded ability.
Very challenging business model. Most traffic is in countries that are have low disposable incomes and are hard to monetize. And Facebook is making rapid inroads in most markets.

hi5 is small, focused, and very efficient with resources. There are many smart people that know how to scale web sites, and there is a passion to make things work well. Plenty of passion from all involved.
|
Things can get clique-ish and sometimes there are poor communications. hi5 has some inexperienced leadership, but it's getting better. hi5 dominates geographies that are very hard to monetize, and their change of strategy may mean really scaling back the company.
