An Established, Patriarchal Culture
|
This is a really talented group of people with some very niche scientific service offerings and a good regulatory track record. The problem is, this is an old, established, non-profit team with a very outdated culture. All revenue generating departments are male run and have been for over 30 years and the leadership style is counterproductive when it comes to team building , transparency, improvements and integrity.

Effective study and work place

I've been in Illinois Institute of Technology(IIT) for 5 years. It was effective to learn and work here. I also have excellent co-workers in my gourp to work with. I did the chanllengeable work of investigating the instrument, i.e. Nano-tracker, in my lab which is a fun process and then use this laser tweezer to make measurement.

Part time teaching position
|
Great to work with very knowledgeable and experienced graduates of the masters' program to lead teams of undergraduates through the design process. It was a challenge to motivate engineering undergraduates to persist through a foreign process with unknown results. The most rewarding aspects were seeing that a learning clicked for the students, whether it was how to tell a story or the power of ethnographic research.

Enjoyable and lots of self-improvement

Once a graduate assistant of the Professional Learning Program, I helped and worked with instructors, directors, and managers in different sectors within the office. I quickly learned how to organize and accomplish tasks in time and efficiently. I utilized my skills in Microsoft Office to facilitate the process of entering information, preparing orientation, and validating data. My communication skill improved each time I got new projects from my managers. I also loved to help the students in our program by providing them useful information and answering the questions they might have regarding to the program or the school. Everyone that I had worked with is extreme important and helpful to me and my future job seeking.

interesting and rewarding place to work
|
As a assistant to administration I will have to interact with the dean, assistant dean, program directors, professors, and students. This was a great opportunity to learn about the different programs that exist and the different innovations, trends, and ideas that are happening about to launch into industry. Work can be a little hectic because there is a quick program development and an even quicker integration. IIT Stuart is a great place for meeting with diversity. I had the opportunity to meet people from 4 continents and about 11 countries.
