- Startup type of environment culture where you were able to experiment and try a lot of new things
- A lot of very smart analytics team members and old school ldigital media and tv marketing team who understood the industry very well.
- A lot of messy data to work with if you like that kind of thing
- Very casual environment

- The legacy systems and technology at the time was made to be impossible to improve or even work with
- All of the backend systems were developed many years ago and controlled by a few people who knew how anything worked.
- No focus on hiring engineering help or implementing open source solutions
- Company was only focused on dazzling clients with a lot of fancy powerpoints.
- They still relied on very traditional methods of selling media to clients with a lot of old-timer people relying on out-dated practices.

- Focus on hiring the proper engineering talent to be able to work with the backend systems so that data access isn't hijacked by a few people in the organization.
- Upgrade analytics team with some programming and development talent for manipulating data. Excel experts are not the only ones who can analyze data.

Not able to retain clients. Management was a joke. Revolving door for senior management. The last CEO...wont name names...but her initials are NM was a joke and she ran the company right into the ground. She was obsessed with video marketing when it was clear many of the current list of clients were DRTV focused. She was a clueless FOOL.

Total chaos. No leadership from CEO. Her vision was not consistent with the reality of the actual business. Key senior employes left. Client losses significant. Thus no room to advance career.

A great group of people, but with rocky leadership, putting band-aids aren't fixing the problem at its core.

-People make all the difference in a company and there were so many brilliant, hard working and enthusiastic employees. It's a smaller agency, so you found yourself in the kitchen grabbing coffee or working closely with people on just about every team
-Hours were pretty decent for a full service digital agency and a small group
-You learn a lot and get exposed to everything
-Fun happy hours
-Leadership team full of strong Type A personalities that can sell a photo to a blind man

-Leadership did not retain talent well at all.
-Stretched very thin but that is normal in most agencies.
-Have never witnessed a junior employee promotion, smart junior employees have probably left before committing
-Politics politics politics. Lots of favoritism and bureaucracy.
-Revolving door. Come in. Learn what you can. Get out.

Good perks; lunches, breakfast, great parties. Good benefits, good vacation, sick and personal holidays. A great place to train.

Leadership is cloudy and inconsistent. You are often on your own. You can get used, and there is a lot of lying at the upper levels. Very much a place where your work isn't as important as it is to be liked by those who are running things. Management will blatantly lie to employees.

There are some really great people that work here.
The pay is pretty good.
Learning about different products can keep the job interesting.
Somewhat flexible with work schedule.

There is no connection between the main office and other offices/employees off site. Most people based out of one office have no idea who anyone is in NJ.
No room for growth or promotions.
No raises annually or based on performance.

There is no connection between IMS and other offices. It seems to a lot of the employees in the Vermont office feel that New Jersey doesn't really know them or want to know them, with the exception of a few that have contact with them. Also, according to the employee handbook, raises are supposed to be annual, but unless an employee directly brings it up, several times, it doesn't happen. To keep good people, you have to be willing to compensate them.

A bad couple of years, but some good peeps survived
|

Very smart analytics/planning group adds tons of value in the highly-competitive ad agency biz. Also several good TV buyers on staff. Finally, account services got a nice boost in 2012 with some good new hires, although a few of the better account services folks have left--so that's probably a wash. Recent trials and tribulations (detailed in "cons" below) seem to have subsided. New CEO seems to have a good grip on things and should be able to lead the agency through its challenges. Could be a good opportunity for a more senior person or middle manager seeking quick promotion to help rebuild the agency. Finally, they do have three or four big spending clients who seem very happy, insuring revenue/employment for those that remain.

Basically, the key founder (one of three, the other two had pretty much checked out years ago) left at the end of 2010. As she left, there were two hirings in leadership positions that turned out to be disastrous, contributing to some client defections [and layoffs]. The CEO worked about ten hours a week (I'm dead serious) for the last few years--huge leadership vacuum with the senior managers fighting for turf at the expense of the agency. The two bad hires were let go; and the CEO was dumped by parent company MDC Partners in Sept 2012. But it was too late; damage was done. Net, net, they're recovering from a bad year or two.

Flexibiliity; working with all levels of employees; full service agency. Extremely talented video production group, all in-house. The social media talent is awesome!

Sometimes too busy to have regularly scheduled meetings. Deadlines are always an issue with most ad agencies, but they seem to handle them okay.
