The worst place I've ever worked

Years ago I worked in the creative department. I did learn a lot from, and enjoyed my co-workers that were on the same level as I was at the time. Good work-life balance.
|
Leadership of the marketing and creative department were the two most political, childish and vindictive "adult" women I've ever come across. It was also impossible to get a bonus, raise or advance. Luckily, I believe that they have since been replaced. At the time, very high turn-over for obvious reasons.

Zero work/life balance.

-There was an open bar located on the main floor of the company. Anyone could walk up during anytime of the day and grab a beer or mix a drink for themselves.
-Close to a lot of nice restaurants and the beach
-Events thrown by the company were pretty good and made sure everyone had a good time
|
-Zero work/life balance. If you were seen sitting at your desk past closing time, you were seen as a great employee. Those people with family/kids/long drives were seen as less of an employee. On my first working day there, my manager recommended that I just stay at my desk past 6pm because it would look good to his boss!
-Management made it pretty obvious that favoritism was their method of management/promotion. If you hung out with top management after work hours you had a much easier path to moving up.
-Turnover was high, you would constantly see people start for a few weeks and then disappear.
-Compensation was low considering how much cash the company was pulling in. And when it came time for merit increases, they were offered but with the promise that more would come later.

Be honest to your employees. If you prefer that people put in extra effort and stay late, show to them that you care. Understand that some people do have lives outside of work and can't stay late everyday. Introduce a more flexible work schedule as 90% of your employees are salary.

Great People. Def Young Vibe and work environment. Open bar in lobby areas. Good parties when they have them.

The CEO of Sensa is questionable in her level of integrity and way she runs SENSA. Although she comes across as interested and carrying there is a proven level of being self serving and calculating. Some of the execs team are fantastic however the CEO terminated the money makers this week along with 30 of us today. Be careful as this company is sinking as there product doesn't work.
No longevity here.

Some genuinely nice people. Great equipment and IT staff.

Company overall very shady. SENSA product questionable. Upper management bailed when the going got tough. Incompetent subordinates took over higher paying jobs which were not qualified for. Run by children. When the going gets tough, Intelligent Beauty lays you off or finds other creative ways to let you go. Not much to creativity as a designer. We referred it to the Banner Barn - you'll be doing iteration upon iteration of their target testing banners that trick people into thinking they can lose mass amounts of weight
