My co-workers care about the mission of the organization as much as I do, and it's clear that everyone's work is more than just a job for them. The organization practices what it preaches in terms of pay and benefits for its employees. There is a union contract, living wages, and great benefits (healthcare, retirement, paid sick leave, parental leave, etc). I hope to be at IWJ for many years to come, and to be part of this talented and passionate staff. IWJ's founding director left the organization a little over a year ago, and IWJ is still working through the leadership transition. I have to say at this point there are no pros to working here beyond a paycheck and the potential for better management (eg the incoming staff, as many staff members are leaving). If you work there, you'll definitely learn things, but not all of them will be positive. With the current staff transitions, the bulk of the work is left to a few select people who undoubtedly burn out and take it out on one another. The organization has been consistently understaffed and the turnover extremely high, allowing for there to never be a feeling of camaraderie or togetherness (because the organization is simply not "together"). Additionally, there is no cohesive goal for the organization which causes doubts around the org's relevance. There is no doubt in my mind that everyone there is genuinely concerned for workers rights and passionate about the org's objectives- the current office culture, however, is not healthy. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 4.0 1.0 1152357 Open Phase out the old and bring in the new. The people who are there now are overwhelmed and under appreciated.
