No work/life balance
Incredibly underpaid because "its the music industry"
You'll do a lot of work that will never see the light of day.
Upper management is an unmitigated disaster.
You'll be promised a lot if you "just put the work in" and you'll get none of it unless your really tight with management.
The CEO really calls all the shots, every single thing needs his approval to move forward.

- Extremely compassionate, family-like atmosphere. Everyone (including executives and senior managers) cares about each other and knows where the company is headed. For the most part, everyone supports one another. The vision and mission are clear.
- Benefits are excellent! Amazing 401k, excellent medical options, Winter Break some tuition reimbursement, hackathons, recording studio, and the typical accouterments of a 2019 tech company (beautiful work space, snacks, ping pong table, events, etc).
- Very academic environment that when coupled with fast pace leads to very rapid learning. I feel like I got a mini-MBA in my time there. There is generally a learning mindset among employees.
- The products are best-in-industry, award-winning, and game-changing to those who use them (including a 2-time Emmy-award winning technology uniformly used in movies and television).
- Very creative environment with creative and interesting co-workers that are some of the smartest people you will ever meet. Musicians and appreciation for music and the arts are prevalent.
- Committed to developing diversity and inclusion at an executive level (including support for diversity and inclusion training and sponsorship of a Womxn's group).
- All points of view welcomed, considered and often solicited by the executive team and other leaders.
- Support for professional development inside the building (with internal learning opportunities, library, and informal mentorship) or outside the building (conferences, courses, trade shows).

- Company changes direction frequently and moves extremely fast. Not necessarily a con, but will be tiring to some. The vision and mission are clear, so it's usually easy to understand and re-calibrate.
- Very consensus-based decision making. While day to day moves fast, more strategic initiatives can take longer and require many inputs from across the company (usually to the benefit of the initiative, but can be frustrating).
- Pay is slightly under other tech companies for certain roles due to industry.
- The org structure is relatively flat in certain areas of the company with many managers. Hard to move up into new roles.
- Even though support for work-life balance exists, it's easy to get caught up and care too much.

Great products, good location, good culture.

There is no work-life balance, hence why they can’t ever keep the marketing department fully-staffed. They love buzz words and have grand ideas but there is no follow-through. You will work insane hours with zero appreciation. Sales forecasts are not well thought through and management lets entitled, green employees run amuck and create a toxic environment for more knowledgeable employees who are experts in their line of work.

iZotope is in the top tier of companies that I have worked for in my 30+ year career. The people are warm, brilliant and extremely passionate about music and the customer. iZotope is a leading brand in the music industry and highly regarded as an innovator and machine learning pioneer. The products consistently win industry awards and kudos from leading music and post producers.
The very experienced management team cares deeply about everyone in the company and, from the very top, goes to great lengths to make sure that employees and business partners are always treated ethically, with compassion and with respect. Politics, while unavoidably existent (even a 2 person lemonade stand has politics), are minimal -- the least I have experienced in any company I have ever worked for. Some negative posts suggest incompetent execs and lots of politics, but through my firsthand experience, I can assure you those posts are based on sour grapes.
The office space is beautiful, with excellent recording studios, Friday lunches and endless snacks.
iZotope is a very special place. I very much miss my peers and how together we created the amazing products that launched during my tenure.

The commute to/from Cambridge can be tough if you live out in the suburbs.

Nice location. Good perks. Beautiful studios to "play" in.

Poor Pay - point blank, way less than similar companies.
Haphazard leadership, that is full of "business people" with no understanding of music business or any idea what a creative customers looks like or is looking for.
Lots of big ideas during hiring process - we are going to do X, Y, Z and expect you to be able to achieve this goals. Years later - nothing. Poor internal systems, poor strategy and god awful analytics.
