The people are miserable and have no life outside of work. They take advantage of unpaid interns instead of just hiring the staff that they desperately need to unload on the present employees. The president of the company is rude and unfriendly to his lowly workers. This company is truly dying and it's sad because they make no effort to improve.

Friendly people but disorganized management

The venue only hires people who know each other, so everyone ends up getting along fairly well and working hard.
|
Management can be a bit anxious and overbearing, especially on employees who make sure to do their job thoroughly. If an employee pays attention to the venue they reach a lull, until customers start piling up trash or draining the bar again.

The "cooler than thou" attitude was exhausting. I have never met a more miserable group of people - hated it there, but would never leave. Might have been great in the 80s/90s but the mystique outweighs the reality.

The idea of "you've got to spend money to make money" is foreign to these people. No investment in their employees, no investment in improvement of the company or its assets, no investment in the future. A truly reactionary company. No HR department to speak of.
