Great work life balence
|
I like not having to work weekends and holidays and I’m able to get time off when I need it. There is an hour for lunch. The there is a great environment here. The work here is pretty easy to do. I would recommend working here.

It was a friendly environment then it changed to managers lying on employees
|
I give them total hands down the management when I worked there was horrible after the first 10 yrs
When I was hired by Joslin I was overly excited to be there learned a lot but, 19 1/2 yrs later they terminated me with lies had to fight for my unemployment benefits the manager at that time lied in the conference I wonder since she lied in HR face she lied and got caught did she get terminated NO I don’t recommend anyone to work there unless your willing to be treated like a nobody the plus to working there you can text all day, listen to music at your desk all provided by the previous manager good luck working there I have heard it’s no better now then 7 yrs ago
Your hired for a entry level position but, do the managers job and don’t get paid that salary not to mention if you make 5 cents more than a new person your not getting a raise.
I do hope for the future of their patients they make lots and lots of changes

I worked at Joslin clinic eye institute 2007 to 2013.
I left Joslin for a personal family situation on 2013.
Still I miss BEI department at Joslin like my home and family.
Nice team great co friends and doctors.
I miss them all.

Joslin prides itself in cutting edge research and expert clinical care for people diagnosed with diabetes. Their accomplishments over the last 100 years supports their pride. Their location in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area is both a benefit and a challenge. The biggest challenges I observed were their diminished presence as a result of being the smallest institution that was often - and quite literally - in the shadows of larger medical facilities with better name recognition. They are also located in an area of the city with transportation and parking issues, making accessibility difficult.

You need more than thick skin to work here.
|
Fake coworkers. Gossip culture. People call others words like "entitled" they think that quiet workers who keep to themselves are doing it for the wrong reasons. Upper management doesn't do anything about work place hostility and lashes out worse than the coworkers.
Pay is good, Location is good, patients and doctors are good.

Child focused workplace
|
The pediatric department at Joslin Diabetes Center does an amazing job of helping children learn to manage their diabetes. They have ample staff to help provide different types of education to the children and their families. While I was there, I was able to witness many new patients who were learning to adjust to their diabetes diagnosis. With the immense help of the child life staff, these patients were quick to learn how to manage their own diabetes, almost without their parents help!
